: Well today seems to be the day, another new addition
Blown7 04-11-2007, 06:01 PM Was I just reading the "Finally" thread and I guess it's a banner day on this site. I purchased a new one also. 20 miles on the odometer. 2007 Red. All options.
Now after the warrantee, a 6-71? Or a Eaton twin screw?

Also ordered two extra tires to keep in stock, I wanted to buy two extra rims too, but 2500.00 dollars for two rims was too much, I'll go to Town Fair tire and get a couple rims.
Is there a new greatest NAV update? Or you get a one size fits all disc?
I added to the contract that the latest nav disc be installed before delivery.
Also I'm getting a hour of rack time with the best "A" Tech to answer all my questions.

There's no 6-71/Eaton s/c yet, hopefully someday.

My luck with tires seem to be I get a flat on a Saturday Night at 7 o'clock, I like options. Yes these are run flat tires but you can't run these forever. My understanding is about 50 miles or so. Plus being a "really special tire" I think availability is pretty limited in my area. This is going to be a daily driver for the wife and I and I "don't want to loose the war for want of a nail" Plus if I do a long cross country trip I'll fabricate some kind of tire carrier maybe inside for both tires. I doubt very few tire dealers have these tires in stock.

I have been told that the run flats will go 200 miles at 60MPH. But having a back up is always nice.
squigmang 04-12-2007, 09:35 AM i wonder when the map will come out for nova scotia canada,. its driving me nuts
kramsay1234 04-12-2007, 09:56 AM squig - there are various points north of Toronto that need updating as well, so I am keen on the revision too.

It's great to have extra tires, but you will also need a tire dealer than can support run flats. Most cannot. There are even Goodyear dealers out there that do not have the proper machines to install them. So before you buy extra EMT tires so you don't have to drive far to fix a flat, make sure you can get them installed locally.

I'd suggest you consider going with different tires. The ride of the runflats is not as good as more traditional tires, and I'd argue that the size of the stock tires is one size smaller than what should have been spec'd. (Compare the tire's width contact width (on Goodyear's site, I don't remember the exact number) to the rim's width.)
You may also discover that the runflats cost rougly double what some of your other alternatives cost.
I bought a can of fix-a-flat and an inflator since I'm not using the runflats any longer.

I have time right now as the tires are brandy new but the SRT Engineers gave me some food for thought last night.
I asked a couple of questions about tire sizes and the no spare theory.
One came back with a great idea (one of those why did I think of that)
the front rims will fit the rear, and as I'm not going to be running strip drags why can't I switch out the rear rims with front rims, find the perfect size tire and run all four 9 inch wide rims with maybe a 10-11 inch tire. I have time to research this and buy new rims but I think this may be the way to go. Then I can carry one spare mounted.
Details on the tire mount later.
