: Door Dings????

From past experience most of my cars seem to find a way to get dinged by some a-hole. (never when you're around)
Anyway, my question is.....
How is the Jeep when it comes to this? I don't have a garage because I live in a building w no assigned parking spaces. one day i could be parked next to a lexus the next a piece of crap that doesnt give 2 ****s about thier car or mine....
Any feedback is appreciated.... trying to figure how prone the jeep is because it does have those side moldings on the doors that look like they can prevent any light door dings.

I think it will totally depend on the type of car parked next to you. Coupes should be okay as the door will hit the trim piece first. But with sedans, if that rear door swings open wide (like to remove a kid from a car seat) it could hit the middle part of our doors perfectly and cause one hell of a ding.

Most SUVs are taller than ours, so if something like an Expedition were to swing a door open wide, their trim piece is higher than ours and could definitely ding the door.

I park next to a GT3 at work sometimes and the guy who owns it actually takes a piece of foam tubing (like that used to insulate hot water pipes) and hangs it from his mirror and tapes it to his rear wheel. Pretty insane but he has no dings!

WOW... That's one way to do it.... My plan is to park in a corner where i only have 1 car next to me. On that one side I will park my moms old 93 town car- so no one will park next to me. the town car is mine anyway cause my mom doesnt need it.
As far as work... I park in an upstairs garage with plenty of open spaces.... and there is a guy w a Viper so I'll park next to him cause I know he cares...lol.
What a mission but it has to be done..... door dings piss me off and they kill the look of your new ride.

I've owned my GCSRT8 for about a month now. Since then, I did get a door ding on the passenger rear door. I called "dent pros". They came out to my work and fixed it for $60 bucks. Serious, I can barely tell it was there. Cool guy too, he explained everything he was going to do...so I wasn't shocked to see him pecking my door with his tool. :)

See what I mean? A dent on your door for no reason.... I bet you were pissed when you saw it. We spend almost 50k for this beautiful truck and some shmuck casually bangs it up? Dude there are some dings that even those guys can't fix (depending on the area it's in).
All I know is that happens to be my biggest pet peeve EVER!!!!!
Doesn't anybody feel my pain?

I got rear ended sitting in line awaiting passport control.. I did pay $49K for mine... I am still peeved about it but what can you do. It left the only visible mark so far on my rig other than sand scratches from washing and drying. Saudi is horrible with people dinging cars. Hell I think they feel it's their right to ding ya. So far I haven't gotten dinged but thats probably just a matter of time. I think the chrome/plastic side molding does a lot for preventing a lot of dings.

I feel your pain.... and yeah I was pissed to hell!

I parked next to some shmuck in a white truck. I guess I knew better not to park next to him. It was lunch time and I was pressed for time. I didn't notice it until later that day. For now on, I park far...far...away.

Since my GCSRT8 is black, the ding was the only thing you noticed on the entire car. Luckily the "Dent Pros" guy could fix it. Still.... it will cost me another $60 or more if I get another one. *Keeping fingers crossed*

My lightning was black.... kinda of a pain but damn did it look like a mirror after a nice wash and wax.....
Godfather your truck looks mean as hell in black I must admit.
I'm considering it.... I'll post the final results on or around the 30th of this month- when I finally round up the down pymnt.

I've managed to avoid door dings by being careful of who I park next to, and finding spots that are a bit farther away but more protected.

I have had mine for about 2 months and live in an apartment complex. Door dings don't worry me it's the kids on bikes jumping the curb by my Jeep. I am the neighborhood scrooge now. Couple weeks ago a 5 year old lost it and put a 12 inch scratch down my door. I grabbed her (not literally) and made her get her dad who was really pissed. poor kid got grounded for month, but the dad paid for the repair which was fortunately only a buff out.

Now I yell at any kids that come close to my Jeep on bikes, skateboards, with sticks, etc.
