: 3 time in for the Brakes
capitalst 04-09-2007, 08:17 PM You just have to love JEEP on this one. I have had my Jeep in 3 times. The first time to resurface the rotors to fix the lovely noise. 2nd time to replace the rotors which did NOTHING. Then i just had it in for the so called replacement rotors that were NOT slotted that was suppose to fix the problem. Still squeals like a little baby. The best part is that it squealed so bad right in front of the dealer when I was leaving. So now I have to go back again for a issue that Jeep can't seem to fix. Having the Jeep for over 6 months with the issue. I might look into the Lemon law in IL on this one. This is a bunch of Bull S@** on this matter. Don't get me wrong I love the SRT8 but, we need to hold Jeep responseable for this issue. At this point they should caugh up the money for the real Brembo rotors and pads or we should force the LEMON LAW on them. I'm I wrong for feeling this or are there others that would like to target JEEP on this one?

Rick G 04-10-2007, 04:50 AM I agree with you Kevin. ;)
jlandbl 04-10-2007, 05:16 AM Is your squeal coming from the front or rear?
capitalst 04-10-2007, 06:44 AM Both the front and rear
JTSRT 04-10-2007, 09:01 AM When I had my jeep in for the brakes, the dealer told me all they could do is replace the parts with the exact same parts and I would probably have the same noise.
I also had my jeep in several times trying to fix the tire sensor issue, they said there was nothing they could do at the time. This one concerns me since there is no spare and how would I know if the tire was really low on pressure. Problems like this could leave someone stranded, which in turn would make me wanna leave someone bleeding and with a few less teeth at the dealer, but what can we do?
HawaiianGroove 04-10-2007, 08:28 PM I'm having the same problem. I had 4 rotors replaced including the pads. Still squeeking. The Lemon Law does apply to problems after the 3rd time. But I don't think it's valid unless it's a safety issue. I don't think squeeking brakes causes any safey issues. But I'm interested to find out what happens if you do go that route.
capitalst 04-15-2007, 02:09 PM Well I was able to get the phone number to call Jeep corporate. I plan to give them hell and hopefully get them to shell out money to replace the rotors and pads with the proper equipment and not these junk stuff. I just think it is said that they market the SRT8 with Brembo brakes but the only thing Brembo is the rotors. I hate to say it and I don't want to piss anyone off with this comment but, it always seems to be american companies that do a half ass job. If you going to put top brakes in put the whole set and charge me an extra $500 bucks. Trust me I would be more then happy to pay that instead of looking like i jack a&& when i'm pulling up to a store or something. I love the Jeep SRT8 I just hate the brake noise. I will let you all know what the outcome is with Jeep corporate. I will give them hell for all of you.
I'm not sure what the outcome of this will be: http://www.cherokeesrt8.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3540

The most important Brembo component is the calipers IMO.
I gladly put up with the squealing. These are high performance brakes. Maybe everyone else wants to force DCX to dumb down performance for the sake of quietness, but I'll gladly take this noisy pad compound any day as a tradeoff for INCREDIBLE braking performance.
I'm not saying it shouldn't bother you; it's a matter of what you're looking for in your vehicle. I'm just hoping that Chrysler ignores all of you. :p

What about the rotor gouging? I already took my jeep in for new brakes because it looked like the rotors got dragged against the road. And within 100 km, the new rotors are already all gouged up. I know these are performance brakes but this is the first time I've seem them go to $hit so quickly.
michelle 04-18-2007, 08:54 PM just got my jcsrt8 2 weeks ago the rear passenger side squeeks like crazy im happy to hear its just not me. My husband says its because of the bembros but it sounds like a 80 year old truck

Thanks................:(
NitroCrzy 04-19-2007, 06:21 AM My stock brakes were very quiet. However, they did not last long. If the rotors are getting gouged at that low a mileage, I'd have to wonder if the brakes were bedded in properly. Since SRT is saying there is an issue... maybe they had a run of bad pads manufactured over a period......
Rick G 04-19-2007, 03:49 PM The owners manual has nothing about bedding the brakes so it must not be required.
panajeep 04-21-2007, 07:40 AM I have the same problem I send the car to the dealer ,the tell me the noise are the pads , the going to change pads and rotors , the said the to put on some preformance rotors and pads to fix the problem.
NitroCrzy 04-21-2007, 10:13 AM I went with very $$$ high performance pads & rotors from Brakeworld.com. I have to say I'm not very happy with the results. They look great but I can't help feeling I have been ripped off. I got the Gold Rotex for the front and Hawk Plus pads for the rear. It's horribly loud and squeaky now. The factory ones were very quiet compared to what I have now. I haven't had a chance to really bed them per instructions found on the vanhuezen site but... damm they are really loud still after almost 600 miles of city driving.
