: lEMON LAWED THE JEEP
HEMI1 01-12-2010, 03:07 PM OK, So today I finally got the settlement offer from Chrysler to buy back my Jeep SRT8. After 4 transmission rebuilds, and another 3 tries with trying to repair the transmission and AWD system this year I finally gave up on the jeep and hired a lemon law attorney. I am sad to say I am leaving the SRT group. I have elected not to purchase another one due to this experience. While the JEEP as many of you know was a kick in the pants and a blast its reliability was less than desirable. I will say this however, the dealer support in my location was much to blame for this due to incompetent mechanics, and lousy repairs. I wish you all well.
mrkrabs318 01-12-2010, 03:17 PM That sucks....sorry to see you go. Good luck with your next purchase.
Joe Las Vegas 01-12-2010, 03:31 PM SRT rules, you might have just been the unlucky one that got one of those "1 in a million" that got a GCSRT8 that was F'ed up right out of the factory, can't they exchange it for a new one or get you a 2010 model that won't cost you much more than what you had before?
If you liked it, and only the reliability was an issue, perhaps a new one will be good for a long time and run with no problems.
HEMI1 01-12-2010, 03:32 PM A replacement was never offered. I dont think I would have accepted.
Joe Las Vegas 01-12-2010, 03:35 PM So what you gonna get now? anything fast?
Want my RT in a few months?
HEMI1 01-12-2010, 03:36 PM I am actually looking at the new cadillac cts v series..... its pretty impressive.
eddiefig 01-12-2010, 03:43 PM That sucks, man. Sorry to see you go. I thought there were other options. 1. Buy vehicle back for the amount that you've paid so far. 2. Give you a new one (trade it) or 3. You get money AND keep the vehicle while you still try to get it fixed at their cost. Just other things to think about unless you are really set on going CTS-V. Good luck anyway.
HEMI1 01-12-2010, 03:43 PM Well they are paying me back everything I spent on the vehicle, including the glass etching done at the dealer when purchased, plus they paid the attorney fees, and they did a calculation on the mileage and deducted a small amount but overall Chrysler really stepped up and did the right thing here, and I am pleased about that.
eddiefig 01-12-2010, 03:45 PM Heme1, how did that work out for you as far paying an attorney and what you are getting back? thx.
Chrysler made the check payable to the attorney and the attorney cut me a check minus attorney fees. I lemoned mine for brake issues and Chrysler settled for $3,750 and the attorney cut me a check for $2,000.
HEMI1 01-12-2010, 03:46 PM the attorney fee was only $1500.00 pretty reasonable actually.
HEMI1 01-12-2010, 03:49 PM I actually am getting a check for 47,546.98
KINGMONKEY 01-12-2010, 04:57 PM I lemoned a Mercedes Benz CLS550.SRS lights kept coming on.Service after service 4 to 5 times. When they called me and said the car is ready for the last time.I told them to keep the car.I had the car for over a year. They paid every penny + interest.I was pleased. It happens.I went back and bought a S63.I have 52k miles on my 2007 Jeep SRT and it just threw a rod and the ring messed up the heads. The motor rebuild is $4800 and I'm pissed. But I think I would get another one.Even with that it's the best SUV,I have ever had.

liquiddi 01-13-2010, 12:55 PM don't give up on buying another one. Most people one here have no problems. You just got a bad one. It can happen to you next time with any other car.

With the Incentives and or Rebates you could get a new 2010 GCSRT8 loaded and have money left over. Call Don

Grip Grip 01-13-2010, 09:50 PM There are a lot of high mileage Jeeps on here that are the posterboards for reliability. I say roll the dice and give the 2010 Jeep SRT-8 a shot. :)
