I was told by A bodyshop that all factory Mopar wheels requires a core for wheel replacement? Is there any truth to this? Or are they blowing smoke.

I'm not looking to buy 2 wheels. I just want them if there is no core charge.

I was hit by a woman about 10 weeks ago. I got my jeep back yesterday. 2 wheels were scrached up slightly,so I ask to keep the wheels after they replaced my new ones. They said OK to my request 10 weeks ago. But now the tune has changed.

Total BS. There is absolutely no core charge from Jeep or Mopar. Dealers simply buy the wheels outright. Jeep/Mopar is not in the wheel refinishing business.

If you are going through a body shop my guess is that are planning to go through an aftermarket wheel dealer/refinisher who requires the old wheels or charges a core fee, and supplies refinished wheels. Or, they want the wheels/core charge to make extra profit for themselves.

Tell the body shop that you want brand NEW wheels purchased from an authorized Jeep dealer and that you KNOW for a fact they they do NOT charge a core fee.

sounds like the body shop wants two wheels for free.
