Well a bunch of us headed out to the track tonight in search of some serious "up north" DA. I think it would have been a great night for my Jeep personally, but unfortunately most of us didn't even get to make a pass. At the beginning of the second round of passes a new ZR1 pulled to the line so I waited to see what he ran before pulling my jeep in line. What happened next was not what anyone wants to see! The guy in the ZR1 ran wide open the entire length of the track and never hit the brakes before hitting the sand pit, catch fence, and finally the wall at the end of the track. I don't know his fate, but they did Traumahawk him out to the hospital. Scott (BilletTechnology) was at the big end as the ZR1 went flying by so he has more info than I, but from what I understand, the dude was unresponsive. Scott can chime in here if he likes, but I'm sure it's not really what any of us want to think about happening. In any case, my thoughts and prayers go out to the guy in the ZR1 and his family.
On a lighter note, after not getting to make any passes, I hit my usual test road on the way home and had my own test and tune so to speak! :) I had been out tuning and datalogging a bit with the colder weather the last couple of nights and was able to make some good adjustments according to the stats on the Trinity. Like myself, I know most of you will discredit the gains made with an in car timer, but I have to tell ya that my Trinity is generally .15 to .20 slower than what I run at the track. Believe me, I have tested it plenty. FWIW, according the Trinity I ran 12.28@112 smoking the tires, which was a new PB on the Trinity. I made several very consistent passes that were all in that range (10 total... 5 in each direction) so I know it wasn't a fluke. Before you start, again, I'm NOT really putting much stock in it 'cause I didn't run it at the track, but that equates to 12.08-12.13 at the track! Well, that is if the numbers are off by the same amount as usual. Damn, I wish I had gotten to make a few passes so I'd know where it's really at!!! I guess I'll try again Friday, but the weather isn't supposed to be as good. We'll see how it goes and I'll keep ya posted.
