I don't know where or who i can talk to get a custom subwoofer box like the one in this picture. I want to richen the sound a little while being able to turn the bass down on the door speakers so they don't rattle anymore. Who can help.

Great thanks. Was it Fiberglass or wood?

it's wood, but they carpeted over it to match the carpet color in our trunk...fiberglass is insanely expensive.

Please send pics ASAP. Also, how much did you pay and which Tweeter was it?

That's why it helps to own a car stereo shop.......:D

I would be interested in helping some of you out with custom boxes.....fiberglassed, prepped and ready to be painted or possibly MDF....your choice. I'll use my '07 as the prototype vehicle and post some pics if you think it would be worth the effort.

Just let me know what some of you have in mind as far as woofer sizes and quantity.

EDIT: Putting this offer out there because that is my next project for the GC...

I plan on doing a fiberglass box that "replaces" one of the rear panels, siimilar to the pic in the first post, but that flows better and looks like the subs are coming out of the panel (hard to explain, I know!). Wanted to drop either 1 12 or 2 10's in there.

Planning on throwing the Dynaudio System 360 up front as well. Should make a "decent" sounding system ;)

Slow, I def would be interested in what you get going as far as the fiberglassing goes. I was planning on doing it myself, but a professionally fabricated box would be even better.

Just so you all know, JL have confirmed they are building a Stealthbox for the WK series. I have been told that the prototype is in final stages and should be shipping in the June timeframe.

I am VERY interested in this. I would just want something to supplement the stock system...doesn't need to be high end - just some good bottom end at a good price. Thanks.

I am building one that is really simple and lets the seat still fold down.

I have a 13w7 so mine will be more complicated thanothers but I could build one for you.....Mounted to the seat back. That way you can still make use of the cargo area when the seat is folded down.

I am designing something similar to that on paper as well. Pretty much doing about three or four designs before fabrication begins.

Mounted to the seat back?? A 13w7 seems like it would be pretty heavy/bulky for that style of design. I'd be interested to see the final outcome.

are you gonna be able to give the w7 the airspace required? well it is more of a reccomendation but definently a difference in sound,,

Had my man in Hackensack, NJ hook me up. I got two 12" JL woofers in my Srt. And the wife has two 10" JL's in her limited. The box was made to strecth across the cargo area. With the 12" box using much more of my cargo area than the 10" box. Since JL doesn't make a stealth box for our model Had to settle for a custom job. Really kills the stealth box though. Hope I gave you guys some ideas.

If you go on jlaudio.com they have stealth boxes like that for sale.

nope... it will be just fine.. I already tested the strength of where I plan to mount. Besides most of the weight will be distributed over most of the seat...Wont be an issue.

Absolutely....Theres tons of space back there....I only need 1.875 or 2.375 depending on sealed or ported.

I am doing sealed for now.

Im actually making it a little bigger than reccomended. I am doing some serious midbass in the front and I want some Gorilla lows.. The 13w7 already does that but I am going for that "Wake the dead" type low end.

I sure wish I had not sold my other 13!!

a w7 has to be ported is you want that thing to hit at its potental. do the port and it will come with a free back messauge.

I placed my order with Rockford today....gonna do it all Fosgate (I'm an authorized Rockford dealer). They are going to do a partial dealer sponsorship because of the originality of the GC....:D

I'm going to go with (2) 10-inch dual voice coil 4-ohm woofers. My original design was going to be in a custom fiberglass box painted to match the exterior (BLACK). Looks like now I'm going to do them in the floor of the cargo area in the GC because the 10's are only 3" deep.

More info soon in another thread. Thanks again for the questions....keep them coming. This is helping me in my design process and in turn I will share that information with the GC forum.

The only reason I'm not going this route myself.......is due to the fact that the GC has a rear window that opens. If you have been in the business as long as I have you will probably agree that any vehicle with an opening rear window usually has a terrible window rattle at high volumes with the low tones.

Someone please chime in if you have done this and the window shows no sign of rattling or flex. Thanks.

Not true...In the Mercedes I had them sealed and they were spectacular...

I changed to ported and Wow!!! But i was absolutely too much. I got it metered and then changed it back....

With 1 13w7 sealed I hit 138.7.....And thats good for a trunked mercedes.(they suck for subs)

With the ported and another sub I got 146.8....again in a mercedes trunk....

For any of you that dont know, A mercedes trunk is an evil pit of nothingness when it comes to subbass....It just dissappears!!!
