I do my own oil changes as much as possible and if I can't, I go to a trusted friend who owns a shop.

For those that already know, sorry for the repost but for those that don't, here is a tip for you.

If you have a careful look at the drain bolt, you will see that there is a rubber washer that is part of the bolt. This is done to replace the crush washers that are usually used in the past and must be replaced with each oil change.

As a habit, until I can find the exact rubber washer to replace the one on the factory bolt, I purchase a new drainbolt and replace the one on the rig after 2 oil changes. For me, that's once a year (2 changes). The OEM bolt is only $5 Canadian and is a cheap price to pay for the peace of mind that I won't be experiencing drips from the bolt! Remeber not to over tighten the bolt or else.... you may strip the pan!

Does anyone know where I can source out the OEM orange rubber washer that comes with the drain bolt? I'd buy 2 dozen!

Cheers

I just replace mine with a fumoto oil valve. http://www.fumotousa.com/ It makes for a faster and cleaner change. Our engines use the F106.

just go to a hardware store and get some rubber o-rings... a buna-n or viton o-rings are good with oil, stay away form the silicone ones as they can break down,

I'm liking the valve idea :thinkerg: .....no issues with a leak/drip of any kind??

I used that sasme valve on my wife's infiniti fx35 and never had an issue. I just have never got around to getting one for the Jeep. I am going to though.

For extra piece of mind, looks like you can put a hose clip around it to ensure the valve can't open accidently...

Nope, and this is the third vehicle I've used it on. I just add a hose when it's time to change and no spills or messes.

whhhaaa... ive used stock drain plugs in cars for 250,000 miles before... what the hell are you doing replacing it every 10k...

word of advise... use the boxed end of a wrench or 6point socket that is the proper size and dont over tighten...

Dumb question...what's the F106n with nipple model for?

i dont know for sure but i think it allows you to put a hose on to drain (has a nipple sticking out)

Ha ha, you said "nipple sticking out"... :stickpoke:

I don't think I'll get one with the nipple, info says not recommended for vehicles with low clearance. I'd probably rip my nipple off.

You're probably right and that I'm just being overly cautious. I just dont want to deal with leaks, drips, etc.... going to try the valve thing everyone talks about here.
