Just curious if any one had a chance to run a mildly modded ford lighting with their SRT GC?

Ran a local kid at the track who had an '04 with a smaller pulley, tune, intake/exhaust and I dusted him just like all of the snailblazers that day. It was a "street car choas" event so you could have the clock on or off and he chose to keep it off. I was running 12.80s with a 3200 DA all day in hot weather and I won by a couple of buslengths so I figure he was running low 14's high 13's (which the snails were running). If he had some big slicks I'm sure his times would have been at least a half second quicker.

I've never had a problem with any of them on the street.

I did, It did not turn out good for the lightning. He had a 2004 with cam, headers, tune and a pully drop. My mods are in my sig.

I messed w/ one on the streets
I was at a light and it was infron of me... he revved it up a little, and then took off at green.

I passed him VERY quickly :D

It was stock though, from what I could tell atleast.... sounded stock

A lightning is one of the reasons why I wanted more power. When I first got the Jeep I was working in East Hampton. I had a 2 hour ride every day. One day I was on the highway and one came up next to me. We were doing like 70-80 and went for it. He was right beside me the whole way, I was pissed. I was bone stock and started researching and found HHP on a google search. I sent my Jeep to them for Stage 2 Head and cam, headers, converter. That was in nov of 07, I had never even heard of the forum. That was the beginning of the mod bug.

wasn't there a Ford Lightninig running 9.9x's at ATCO in early November? I think it was the buddy of the guy with the blown Challenger (johnny lightning?) driving it. It was one BAD@$$ truck.

stock they run high 13's. usually 13.7 is what iv seen as the norm. a buddy of mine has one and he has a tune pully exhaust and DR and runs 13.2. not bad for a truck but the heavily modded ones will run hard and fast

Well i actually traded up from a lightning to an SRT8 Jeep, On slicks i ran a best of 12.5 in the quarter. Havent raced any lightnings in my Jeep but when i had the lightning i ran into a couple of Jeeps in which i pulled fairly hard on them. Stock for Stock jeep will walk on a Lightning easily. Couple of mods on a lightning should be a decent race. Just my opinion since I have had the honor of owning both

I have a larger crank pulley, catback exhaust, CAI and tune and have run 12.9 on stock goodyears. The truck put down 400 rwhp/500rwtq on a Dynojet. Traction is a huge issue in these torqe monsters!

Stock for stock, the Jeep wins.
From a dig, Jeep wins.
An L with basic mods and say a 40-50 roll, a stock Jeep will have it's hands full.

I raced one at the track one time. I think he was running cut-outs b/c it was LOUD as all get out. I thought he was gonna smoke me....... well, it was ugly. I got him by about 2 seconds. I ran a 12.6 and he went 14.4's I think. He spun pretty good outta the hole. Advantage ME!

ok i am new on the board and i have a lightning that would win alot over srt8 and plan to get on soon but you guys are racing lightnings with very little mods done to them..find a lighting worth racing not these turds that are not fast...but if a guy in a lightning calls you out by all means crush him if you know you can..that is just my thought on that.

I agree, boost is a wonderful thing. I'd love a lightning to haul around my dirt bike.

the lightning I raced had a pully swap, headers, exhaust, drop, custom wheels & tires & a dyno tune..(he's the most modded one where I live)on a island its hard to keep things a secret! the dyno shop that he went to was owned by a client of mine..the shop has bankrupt since then.but I still got the stats,of that lightning..:) I'm sure from a roll it would be diffrent.but we all know a true race is from a dig:)

a really fast Lightning is a rare thing, most of the ones i know of have ported blowers, pullys, tune etc, none faster than mid 12's except for one but its broken all the time, course he is running a custom built navigator 4v motor with the biggest KB blower he can get, now its breaking trannys, rears etc..every other time he goes out.

yes they are very slow stock.most guys that buy them cannot aford to make them real fast like they should..they are 5000lbs stock weight just so you guys know.your benz should walk it alittle it's called hourse power to weight ratio...your benz probably weights 3800lbs that's why the 60mph role beats you buy a little..i love my lightning but would never call someone out when it is a stock slow pig lol....

see their you have it s500 4,310@306hp,lightning 5000lbs and depending on whay year you are racing they have 425hp so it should be a tight race..;)

My Lightning weighs 4810 with an ARE tonneau cover, bedrug, large sub box/amp rack, 2 JL amps, a JL10w6 sub and me.
It put down just a little over 400rwhp with a 6lb lower, catback and tune.
I ran a 12.9 @106 with a 1.8 60ft on the stock goodyear tires with these mods.

There are obviously some really ****ty L drivers in the world.

Agreed. Racing from a roll is for highschool kids who can't drive... That way they don't have to worry about wheel spin, and they're already in gear... So all they have to do is hit the gas... Shoulda just bought a automatic!

Exactly people who argue a drag racing from dig/roll are funny. Ever see pro drag races go from a dig ?

I always cite the imports "Bible"(aka Fast and the Furious).... I say... Vin Diesel doesn't race from a roll in the movie!! Like I've said before.... I've never seen an NHRA event where the honk the funny cars horns 3 times then hit it.
