: couple of questions
SRT8dreams504 01-02-2010, 06:26 AM 1st question- i am in iraq at the moment and my dad got my jeep windows tinted and they couldnt do the front windshield because they say it will mess up the censers... Does anyone know how to get around this or have done it before?
2nd question- Which should i go with the K&N air intake system or the BWoody????
mrkrabs318 01-02-2010, 08:02 AM don't know about the windshield tint but I would go with the BWoody.
I've heard from a lot of people (with different vehicles) that when they got their front windshield tinted it caused their auto lights sensor to make their lights stay on all the time. The headlights aren't the real issue, but driving during the day with your interior in night mode sucks. You can't read the radio, lots of newer cars you wouldn't be able to read the gauges, etc.
That's pretty cool that they told you. Most shops would have just done at and then been like "that sucks want me to take it off? I'll only charge you a little more".
mrkrabs318 01-02-2010, 08:41 AM the interior has a night mode??? I have an '06 and the damn nav screen is so bright at night. I've checked the settings for a night mode. Maybe I missed it?
pjs1965 01-02-2010, 10:05 AM It's on the stalk on the left of the steering wheel. Just inside the light's switch on the stalk, you can turn on the interior lights with it and if you click it up one more time, it changes the interior lights setting (dash, nav, etc). There's a bright and a lower light level night setting.
HTH.
As for the OP's original question -- bwoody is a better choice than the K&N from what I've read and heard (and about the same price).
SRT8dreams504 01-02-2010, 11:13 AM Sounds good and thanks for all the feedback it has been really helpfull, I am going to order the Bwoody and also a diablo programer...
Question 3- what horsepower and fuel milage am i going to gain out of those?
pjs1965 01-02-2010, 11:51 AM Bwoody claims 18.7HP from their 4" model over a stock air box.
I'm not sure what you'll gain from the Predator's Canned CAI tunes or a custom CMR tune but there should be an improvement :D
budmag 01-06-2010, 02:39 PM I have had my '06 and my '08 front windows tinted (I'm in FL) and NEVER heard of this problem. I have mine tinted as dark as the rear and it works perfect, no problems.
skoobz2001 01-06-2010, 04:00 PM Edumacate me guys. Why the heck would you want your front windshield tinted? Would that not make night driving a little... dark?
mrkrabs318 01-06-2010, 04:03 PM It has to really suck for night driving. no way I would even consider it

It would, unless you went really light. Ideally, you'd want something that would reflect heat off your windshield without being too dark. Down here in FL, it can take a few minutes for the car to cool off because your windshield is still a billion degrees. Some reflective tint would in theory do what those ugly chrome reflector things people use does and more.

Sorry i didnt explain it right when i said "windshield" i am only talking about the strip at the top of it, not the entire thing
KingOfTheRoad09 01-07-2010, 04:14 PM i got mine done and love it, no problems at all. it is limo tint that goes down to the markers on the windshield. here is a pic during a light snow.
hope that helps Andrew

Good to know! Thanks for the info Pete!

AHH!! ok yeah you shouldn't have any issues with the sensor if you are just doing the top of the windshield.
