Turbos cars don't suffer as much power loss at high altitudes.

Yes - 335 turbo but chipped (so about 350-370hp range). As previously noted, I guess high altitude / temp really kills NA performance.

Did anyone notice the vid that was posted of the 335i vs. the Jeep? Looks to me like the Jeep didn't launch for crap or the BMW got a good head start. The Jeep should have been out in front much quicker than shown in the vid.

He may have been a good driver... Mags have tested 0-60 runs in 4.8 sec for stock 335 so I am not too surprised by the lack of jump by jeep.

I posted a friendly challenge in that thread. Looks like one guy in my area is awaiting delivery of his 335. If anyone bites I'll make sure to video and post the results. Elevation is 4500 feet here.

Im confident from a dig I should be even through the quarter. If I was at sea level I would estimate 2-3 cars at the end of the quarter.

Nice polite challenge. That's how it should be. None of this your car is crap and mine is better stuff.

He mentions that he "just got the jeep". and as we all know the beast picks up speed with age.

I just raced a new 335 BMW (the new turbo one) for two streetlights yesterday. It was not even close, I destroyed him both times. Beautiful cars though, I'd love to have one.

I have a friend with an '06 M3 6-speed. Once he learned that my GC SRT8 ran a 4.5 second 0-60 time (measured with my G-Tech Pro), he had no interest in running his Beemer against it. Although the HP levels of the 335i and M3 are VERY close, I still think a reasonably modded 335i would only be close to the Jeep. I can't wait to find one that wants to run.

One of my best buds just picked up a Montego blue 335 sedan 6spd on Wed....once he puts some miles on it. I'm sure he'll go for a few runs against me and I'll of course report back.

While setting up a autocross school yesterday, the instructors set up a homemade drag strip, where we could get up to about 85 mph before we had to haul them back down.

The 335i was the 2nd fastest car out there, but not quick enough for the Jeep. It was close though.

Eh like I said I opened with a polite challenge but boredom drove me to fire back at their attacks. I don't think any of my responses were uncalled for and somebody needed to address a lot of what was being tossed around in that thread (POS, ugly, mediocre handling, people with brains wouldnt buy american trash, slower than a 335 and m3 etc).

Someone should remind them that there are SRT8 owners that have owned and still own German cars.

I personally had an 04 M3 (along with a 95 M3 and 00 Mcoupe), another member here had an 04 M3. Someone also had an 03 RS6.

And several others have E55s (between this and the blue site).

Those guys need to relax, this American POS costs just as much as a 335.

I did mention that many members on this board own M and AMG vehicles and asked if they too have no brains to go with their money. I didn't receive a response.

'04 M3 here. Still currently have a '90 325is for an autox car and a '96 328i sitting in the driveway.

BTW, I have found that single brand/model enthusiast sites tend to be a bit biased towards their own purchase. So going over there and expecting a balanced view and opinion is highly unlikely.

Exactly. Defending your opinion of the Jeep on a BMW forum isn't going to get you anywhere. It's not like you're actually going to change their minds with heated arguements. Just the opposite, in fact. You represented SRT-8 owners as a bunch of stuck-up hotheads, exactly what the Beamer owners were doing.

As I said earlier (starting to feel like a broken record here) I was bored. Of course I didn't expect to change the minds of the most biased 335 owners but I did think (and believe I accomplished) I would be able to set the record straight on the performance our vehicles are capable of and the reason a Grand SRT8 makes sense for me.

I do not at all believe that I represented us as a bunch of "stuck up hot heads". I represented myself as someone who was there to set the record straight regarding my vehicle. Did you even read my posts or just their replies? I've seen you bash more than a few members on this board for insignificant and often unfounded grievances. Perhaps you should take a look at your posting habits before lecturing someone else on theirs.

Yes, I did. A bunch of people throwing numbers around and trying to convice the other that their respective rides were not junk. Like I said, you will not make any headway trying to convince a BMW board that our Jeep may be quicker (until they pass us).

The only thing I'm embarrassed about is the fact that So Cal SRT8 posted a g-tech as proof of speed/handling. Anyone who knows anything about drag racing knows that those g-techs aren't worth a damn, the only proof is going to a track and running it. But going to another enthusiast site and telling them your car is better than theirs will get you nowhere.

I had an '03 RS6, it was not worth the hassle IMHO. I use my cars as daily drivers and they need to spend time in my hands and not in the shop. It was very nice when it was running but 5 months in the shop out of 24 months of ownership is not reliable enough for my tastes. Certainly I might feel differently if I had the dough (and space) for just a weekend toy.
