promo718 04-05-2007, 07:52 AM all signs point to you having bought a chrysler vehicle
:)
MonsterMan 04-05-2007, 10:10 AM I just had something similar happen, but it was the ESP, BAS, and ABS lights. It ended up being a rubbed wire in the harness towards the back of the truck. More or less causing a short and whacking out the computer.
ineedspots 04-05-2007, 07:21 PM ya i dont know it was weird... :(

Can you tell me where on the car exactly this rubbed out?
06BLACKJGCSRT8 04-17-2007, 08:40 PM I had this same problem, I just took it to the dealer, told them what happened and they took care of it. From what I can remember it was a simple fix, they just had to change a sensor. It was only about an hour and all under warranty.

Ditto that.
Inferno, also add the location that you discovered on yours too.

What sensor did they change? Wheel? Etc? What?
Ditto that.

Will do ill let you know as soon as I know.
MonsterMan 04-19-2007, 09:04 AM They told me it was a sensor at first and changed it. A couple of days later the problem came back. Then they further diagnosed it as a rubbed wire in the harness for the ABS, BAS, and ESP. They said it was towards the back, when I first picked up and that it probably happened during the build. I have to take the truck in on Friday and I will get the exact location of the rub.
By the way its an 07 with a Jan/Feb build date.
Charlie Pr 10-30-2007, 03:16 PM Im about to take my GC for its third visit for service of ABS / BAS & Traction Control, both light came on full time. At first it was an intermitent problem, if I hit a bump on the road you could see the light flick on. The dealer did a reprogram of the ABS control module on the 1st and 2nd visit for ABS service when the warning light stayed on permanently, they solved the problem for just a couple of miles away from the dealer.
Does anyone have any idea what else could be causing the problem or where to look for potential problem spots of GC SRT8 ABS system!!!!

Same with me.
The dealer ordered a new rear sensor and it will take 5 min. to install.
The damn sensor is back ordered and won't be available for a week or so.
Hope it IS the sensor and not rubbed wires.
Bill
Charlie Pr 11-06-2007, 06:15 PM Every time the dealer re program the control module the light came on after an average of 19 to 20 miles currently Im headed for my fourth visit to the dealer they now say its the ABS contol module, they do not have it in stock, Im waiting for it, hope it solves the ESP, BAS & TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT problem.

They just ordered me a new rear wheel sensor.
Obviously, this may NOT fix the problem.
What is a pain, when all this goes out, the cruise control, GPS, etc. DON'T work!
Bill
Charlie Pr 11-15-2007, 03:57 PM After fourth visit, Finally problem solved with ESP, BAS & Traction Control with a new control module and programing, problem persisted intermitently and was solved by a Chrysler engineer visiting the service center. Lucky me!! All needed to be done was wheel and steering wheel alinement, there a position sensor on the steering wheel if its not centered correcty it will trigger the light's and lock the tires to make necesary the corrections if turning & breaking.
Inferno SRT8 11-15-2007, 04:03 PM After getting the latest G40 brake recall flash I have not gotten the ESP/BAS Traction lights again so far.
Ill keep everyone posted.
veyronSRT8@TTCreations 11-15-2007, 04:07 PM i can tell you from my experiences with jeeps that the electrical, everything from the front on back wiring and all, has always been an issue. the more ya play with things (i.e. PCM, stereo etc) the higher the chances of having weird random lights flashing on the cluster. not to mention i have heard these srt GC's in particular are very sensitive (must be female PCM's in these things. lol)
SRT8 on Maui 05-27-2008, 02:08 PM My "ESP BAS" light just started intermittently lighting this morning after only 3,000 miles on my '08. Scheduled an appointment next Monday. Bummer.
SRT8ITWHOLE 05-27-2008, 09:10 PM My ESP BAS lights just came on. '07 with less than 1500 miles. I've had the G40 recall done (once). I was coming to a stop on a light incline a few days ago and damn if I didn't feel the ABS buzz just a little during the stop. My guess is that it's related, and that a funky control module is the problem and needs replacing.
Dealership time next week, I'll post my results.
SRT8ITWHOLE 06-03-2008, 12:51 AM Took it to the dealer and they apparently needed to flash an update to the transmission program, although they didn't give a version # on the work order. I just drove it home and so far so good. Time will tell.
SRT8ITWHOLE 08-02-2008, 11:43 AM ESP BAS light is back on. Back to the dealer I go.
This just happened to me after 2yrs & 8200miles. I haven't got the latest brake recall/flash done yet. The lights went off after just a few yrds. Has anyone figured this out yet?
hesperus 09-28-2009, 09:37 AM any update on this?
my '06 with around 8k miles on it (yes it doesn't get driven much) was parked in really bad rain for a few days, and when i took it out for a drive last night, for the first 1-2 miles, it felt like the ABS was buzzing slightly every time i'd apply the brake, even from very low speeds. after a few minutes, the BAS and ESP lights came on, and so did the "service 4WD system" light.
the ABS buzzing also stopped right then.
parked it, and after waiting a half hour, set off again. all error messages and lights were gone, but the brake pedal still felt like ABS was engaging even from low speeds. much worse, it felt as if one of the front wheels would suddenly brake on its own, then release!
after reading thru threads here on the dreaded "service 4WD system" indicator, i thought my transfer case was f*cked. but now i'm not too sure, given the other stuff i've read...
i'm out of warranty, someone have any ideas? it seems to me that rust or dirt from being parked out in really really bad rain could have messed up a wheel speed/ABS sensor?

Mine came on a few time as well and would not turn OFF. So I took it into the dealer and they replaced a sensor and has not been back for months. I also did not notice anything else that was weird except for the ESP BAS light that kept coming on. Take it into the dealer when you get a chance.

thanks man! i'm kinda anal when it comes to my cars-- can't sleep knowing that there's a problem!
how much did the sensor cost? dealer here charges an arm and a leg. how does $1,000 for one front wheel grab you? (we don't have a choice here, as i live in the Philippines)

I hear you bro! I am the same way with my Beast. Yeah they told me I had to bent wheels and I ended up taking them to a fix that specializes in fixing wheels. So lucky for me I did not have to buy to brand new wheels. So I would take them to a place that fixes wheels outthere. Also as far as the cost I believe it siad it was no more than 300 dollars to fix it, but it was under warranty. Good luck bro!
hesperus 10-26-2009, 05:38 AM it was a bad wheel speed sensor. just got the truck back from the dealer, and on the way home, no more problems!
let's hope it stays that way.
thanks!
Grizz 08-15-2011, 01:09 PM I know this is an old thread but yesterday my ESP and traction control light came on for no aparent reason on my 08 GC SRT8. I was driving down the highway, lane changed, and it suddenly came on. If I push the ESP button the traction control light (skidding car) will turn off but the ESP light stays on constantly. Any updates from anyone????
chance575 08-15-2011, 01:52 PM My trucks done it twice now, after a key turn or two it goes away. Check for debris around the abs sensors
j2five 10-05-2011, 01:27 PM i have an 06 Gcsrt8. My wife was doing errands this past weekend when the check engine light came on. Then after an hr or so the 4wheel service light turned on also. i know i need to change the TC fluid asap. i jumped on the forum and tried the cheapest fix i could find. So i disconnected the battery for about 15 min as suggested then reconnected it and started it again. Then i checked and all the error codes where gone!!! Maybe the Cpu just needed to be reset. Thank God!!! lol..

All you did was clear the CEL code. If there really is a problem, the lights will come back on. Next time find out what codes are showing first, then clear them. That way you have an idea whats going on, and can determine weather you need to take it in for service right away or not. Those lights don't come on together by accident, you may still have a serious problem with the jeep.
srt4eh 11-09-2011, 06:15 AM I was driving to work in my 06 today (light rain) and had the same thing happen. I drove up a bumpy little hill near work and every symbol on the dash lit up and then turned off after a few seconds leaving just the traction control symbol and the ESP/BAS still illuminated. Parked it and shut it off...turned it immediately back on out of curiousity and it was gone. I really hate to take it back to the dealer since its 2 hours away...ugh
Ride4life686 12-09-2011, 06:45 PM i just started to have this problem as well. it has happened to me about 3 times since thanksgiving. im going to the dealer on monday. I talked to my service adviser on the phone and she said normally its just a wheel speed sensor. after reading this thread it sounds like there is still not clear fix for it so we will see i guess. i checked for any codes with the trinity and it says there are none.
torque030 02-26-2012, 05:14 PM any fix for this yet?
Ride4life686 02-27-2012, 04:58 AM I had a new clock spring put in and it hasn't come back.
Sent from my Autoguide iPad app
I have had this problem over 50 times. It used to happen every time I went WOT with my cutouts open. The instant it happened (while I am flying down the highway with the pedal to the metal) my jeep would swerve sideways aggressively. I almost ran off the road at over 100 mph one time... Ever since then I never raced with my cutouts open again, until I got it fixed.
The solution for me was 2 things.
1. Attached turn-down tips onto my cutouts to direct the exhaust flow out the side.
2. Replaced a wheel speed sensor... I found out that a wheel sensor had a hairline crack going down the side of it. Im thinking, hot exhaust gasses blowing on that broken wheel sensor made my awd system go nuts.
torque030 03-01-2012, 05:45 PM my problem occured right after I put on the predator 93 octane cai tune. does anyone think the predator could be the culprit?
