: 4-04-07 SRT track experience...
JTSRT 04-04-2007, 06:01 PM WOW!!! This day was awesome in spite of the absolute horrid weather - High was 38 degrees, winds no less than constant 20 MPH, and rain / sleet all day. BUT good news is the GCSRT8 was envied by nearly all people there and the guys running the show had nothing but great things to say about the jeep; their faces lit up when people asked questions about which SRT vehicle was the fastest - without hesitation = JEEP. Everyone who hadn't wanted to drive one, it absolutely dominated on the wet, drag strip section, and disbelief was the word of the day with the jeep on the autocross courses. The instructors were great, the cars were all awesome. For me it was the first time I'd ridden in any other SRT vehicle, including the Viper we got to drive. I have to say I was impressed with the Crossfire SRT6, that thing moves. The only bolt-ons some of the cars had were the Mopar CAI and cat-back...I hadn't heard those before and I must say they do demand attention at WOT. Although I tried not to be bias in my opinions, I'd have to say hands down the JEEP is the greatest SRT vehicle, even superceding the viper which was very rough, loud, and not a total package winner. I have pics but I'm not too sure how to download them, most of you have probably already been to one and whoever is contemplating it should do it!
RRSRT8 04-04-2007, 06:14 PM Sounds great JTSRT. I'm scheduled to do the same here in Pittsburgh on April 21st. I'm hoping for good weather, but it'll be a blast either way.
JTSRT 04-04-2007, 07:56 PM Alot of people were bummed about the weather, but I was determined to have a good time and realized that today we were able to see what these vehicles can do in bad weather. No, we didn't get to rip through the corners like a sunny day, BUT we did push these cars near the limits on very wet roads and I have to say I was quite surprised. My take home was that I would've never pushed my jeep on the streets as we did today therefore I would've never known exactly how well ALL the SRT vehicles handle. I was definitely impressed. The other take home was the driving we did today required a higher level of attention and a steeper learning curve, I am sure you will as I was be up for the challenge! You'll have a blast! I compared it to a fat kid in the candy store, except this time the fat kids' mom is telling him to eat everything in sight!
Green Light 04-04-2007, 08:39 PM Glad you had fun today. I knew that the rain and cold would be a bummer. So nobody ended up in the mud like Buttercup? I did manage to break one of the accelerators in one of the magnums.
MNBob 04-04-2007, 08:50 PM You guys are really getting me excited about going. I am scheduled for 4/26 in Homestead (Miami). Should have pretty good weather down there. We will see if an old fart like me can handle it!

From one ol' fart to another....you will have a blast. My wife and I had a great time last week at Charlotte (Lowes Motor speedway). Get on Buttercups team!

JTSRT 04-05-2007, 12:12 PM As far as going in the mud: I think two of Hammer's people got a lil crazy in the viper. I know I saw mud peppered all over the black coupe when we drove up and the rumor is that it was someone who owns a viper! LOL.
MNBob - you're gonna have a blast...I was smiling the entire time, even with the freezing rain/sleet and wind.

A couple of people broke the accelerator on the Magnum when I was at the Atlanta track experience (the silver one?)

Mango 04-05-2007, 07:18 PM On Tuesday, someone broke the accelerator pedal on the Red Charger at the Full Throttle Challenge.
OurZoo 04-05-2007, 08:14 PM How do you break the accelerator?
Mango 04-05-2007, 08:23 PM LOL I didn't, I actually think it was GreenLight, the member here on the forums.
barho 04-06-2007, 07:23 AM LOL I didn't, I actually think it was GreenLight, the member here on the forums.
Yeah, it was Greenlight.
I'll tell ya how he broke it.....he's an awfully big guy, and when he mashes the pedal...he REALLY mashes the pedal. At least, that would be my guess. Sound about right Greenlight? ;)
Green Light 04-06-2007, 05:39 PM Yes that was me. :( . I guess my mass was too much. I just wish that it would translate into reaction time. I'm thinking about E-town myself. I'll have to redeem myself or change my handle.
Mango 04-06-2007, 05:41 PM hahahaha
"Throttle Smasher" sounds much more appropriate.
