Want to maybe do a 75 shot in the summer.
GRNENVY 04-04-2007, 06:59 AM Iridium NGK IX is the best plug made.

They are not cheap, and you will need 16 of them. The price is all relative if you need a colder plug for performnace issues!!!. If your planning on juice alone, the OEM plug should be fine!!!

cobrakid 04-04-2007, 10:46 AM thanks...
16 plugs, well that made me look stupid, I didn't know that.
as far as expense, I used to run Densos, and they were like $100 for 8.
...and the NGKs were like $60 for 8.
The densos were too dam sensitive and I really liked the NGKs and never
had any problems from them what-so-ever.

Hey, No problem. The OEM's should be fine for juice alone.:)
GotStroke? 04-04-2007, 11:30 AM When the time comes to swap on my N/A Jeep I'll be going with good old copper plugs. Something comparable to an Autolite 764 or NGK TR55.
cobrakid 04-04-2007, 12:28 PM ......I have paid my dues on other (first) vehicles, and my 03 Cobra spoiled
me as far as easiness of changing spark plugs.
What is the procedure for the SRT8?
Any tips?
any plugs out of the 16 that are a royal PITA?
about how long should it take me?
I am asking b/c my wife won't want me "tinkering" with the new vehicle, and
I need to sneak and do the mods. (funny huh?)
thanks again, like I said I have been advising for a long time on other vehicles
and have been a senior member with lots of posts on modfords...... and since
some of you guys are experts on here, I do appreciate the quick help.

Did you read my post above?? http://www.***********/forums/showthread.php?t=2440&highlight=spark+plugs
The driver side is a total pain in the knuckles. Do the passenger side first. Have several long...short and swivels.....put a dab of anti-seize on each plug on the threads.....dont mess with the gap unless they are off.....they are factory gapped. Remove the coils but do not pull the bolts out of the coil ....just enough to loosen them away from the plugs.
Check out the quality of he factory plugs ( mismatched gaps) and report back! Mine were not Platinium and this is the same plug used in the SRT4
gculver 04-04-2007, 02:46 PM No tricks really, remove coil on plugs and have at it. A few are difficult to get at, but with a variety of extensions & swivels, no problem. I will recommend that you use di-electric grease in the boots and perhaps some anti-seize(but really not necessary).BTW, My OEM's were NGK's Lazer Platinums. It takes me about 1 & 1/2 hr to change all, some claim 3 hours, I dunno whats up--To much beer maybe-- Welcome aboard.

Agreed: 90 minutes, variety of extensions and swivels. Been running the NGK Iridium 1 step cooler for the past 9 months. Quicker start-up, and seems a little more responsive off the line, but I doubt it helps much as far as max hp/tq. DCX emphasizes their torque specs for the plugs (check "wkjeeps" website for specs-I think it was 12-14 ft-lbs, but please check to be sure). Got my plugs at "sparkplugs.com"
Wem0221 03-03-2008, 07:55 PM Hey gCulver...I am running 180 thermostat, Bwoody intake, Kooks Headers and corsa exh and the predator...What plug you think would be best for mine? I am a neebie here
SilveRT8 03-04-2008, 03:27 AM I'm running Irridium 1X but I did "INDEX" them. Using a long socket you scribe a mark or paint line on one side and then insert the plug lining up the open gap of the plug with the line. Tighten the plug making sure the line on the socket ends straight up so the open gap of the plug is facing the intake side.
If plug does not line up try it in another cylinder. You may need 2 extra plugs to make sure they all end up in the right direction. I dont know if this can give 1 hp or not but if it does I want it, takes only a few more minutes to install

x2
I'll have similar mods....
Do you all recommend 1 or 2 step colder plugs?

2 steps colder you will run into problems with your lists of mods, 1 step is just right.
