So I just turned over 1,000km’s on my baby and she is a 9 days old… mileage now is not great at all… 400km’s per tank max and that’s with mainly highway driving at 110-120km/hr!
Display reads 17.5 liters per 100km’s now.

I plan to get an aftermarket CAI in the spring which should help a little but otherwise are there any mods that will help mileage?

What sort of numbers do people here notice as their unit gets a little more broken in?

I think a tune is your best bet for better mileage. My tuner was 30 miles away. On the way there, I reset my computer and is showed an average of almost 14 mpg, mostly highway. On the way back after the tune, I averaged 16.

I drive mostly city and a bit expressway and so far am averaging 26-28L/100km or about 300km max per tank running bone dry. I had an idea it would be bad but not this bad. Every time I start it I see the needle drop. Drive a few kms and it drops. Looks as if I will be filling it up 2 a week or at least $100 in gas/week. No joyridding either. I got just over 500km on mine now. :boohoo:

Damn, I leave the HUMMER H2 forums, where the fifth most asked question is "How do I increase MPG's, to here, where the same exact question appears. Doesn't anyone read the fuel economy sticker on the window before buying? Note to potential JEEP SRT8 buyers: If the gov't fuel economy is 13 mpgs, then, even after doing ever fuel saving trick in the book, you will still be burning dino-juice at a Prius scaring rate of <15 MPGs.

A tune will definitely help. I was averaging about 14 on the highway before my tune. After I installed my MHP CMR tune I get around 16.1. With the increase in performance as well as efficiency, it was a great deal. In about a year or so I would have paid off the price of the tune with the savings. Definitely worth every penny.

I get a crappy 12.3 MPG on average. Sure, it went up with the tune, but it also became more fun to drive so I keep flooring it.

If you want good gas mileage, get a Toyota Corolla or something. You could probably get one on the side and pay for it with the gas you save as your weekly driver. But you'd be sitting in a lame Corolla, being sad.

26-28L? Yeeshh.... I thought 18-19 on my last 2 tanks was bad. Thanks, you just made me feel better.

I drive in town only and get maybe 275km per fill and I run it till the light comes on. It has been cold as **** up here 400km is not bad for having some -40 weather.

That brings up a good point which was beiing discussed on another board I frequent. Do gas companies blend a "winter" formula, which affects mileage in the cold?

Just the temp alone takes the fuel mileage down a alot. This take longer to get to full temp. You have to warm it up before you can drive anywhere. Everything being cold is harder to turn and takes more power. The fuel tables on my old truck at 32*f are in the 60% enrichment range if I rembember correctly. That is alot of extra fuel.

I bought/ordered mine sight unseen. No window sticker to look! No demos anywhere near me, unless maybe I went to Michigan.:p

Sorry buddy 13.9L per 100k was the best I ever got. Going down a LONG hill at 60. In the winter you get 23L per 100k at best!!!

Oh ok I am just familiar with certain vehicles being known to get slightly better mileage after say 2-5,000km’s… I had a hunch that there is not as much of a break in difference on these newer performance vehicles, but I did notice a bit of an improvement on my 06’ Charger SRT8 after around 10,000km’s, and it has the same engine.

I do mostly in town driving so stopped checking mpg's and just go by how long a tank lasts me now... lol. A full tank will get me to vegas though so thats good enough for me!

I think the gas tank will last you longer if you do not drive it all!!! Otherwise I think the comment above is correct.
