: Autostick Question

This might be a newbie question here but I was playing around with the autostick while sitting at the stop light and with one tap to the left, it goes directly into 1 and I can only go up to 2. Is that a new feature in the 2010's? In my 5.7, I was able to go 5,4,3,2,1.

Thanks!

-Joe

If you hold it back to the right it will go back into drive. While you are moving you can downshift from 5 to 4 to 3 and so on.

I am not sure if I am explaining my question right. (This is while sitting at the stoplight) I tap the shifter once to the left and it goes directly down to 1 and one tap to the right, it goes up to 2 only. Even if I tap it to the right again, it stays in 2 and doesnt go higher.

In my 5.7, when I tapped the autostick to the left once, it started out in 5 and then went to 4,3,2,1.

That's right Joe. It doesn't go sequential up at a stop. Gear choice is limited to your speed and RPM and since you can start in either 1 or 2 in the SRT8, it won't go higher than that. Holding the lever to the right for 1 second put it into D.

We have a saying in geek world, RTFM. In this case it would translate into "READ F-ing THE OWNERS MANUAL" -- Page 286-287 :D On page 287: "You can start out in first or second gear. The system will ignore attempts to upshift at too low of a vehicle speed."

Just teasing you Joe! I bet you're like "I don't wanna break something". Coming from an 07 Limited I thought - 'hey, this is just like my old one' and in many ways it is yet there's some nice differences (like the engine, tranny, brakes, styling, seats to name a few :D).

Just don't post 'where are the roof racks' ok?

Yeah its a newbie question. Mine I tap it left and I am in 1st gear and if I tap it to the right its in 2nd. Next why would you want to start out in a gear higher then 1, or 2 to begin with? If you do that essentially it would stall out the motor like it does on a stick shift. So 1st and 2nd gear will work for me. Thats weird how they did it in the 5.7 and you would have to tap it until you were in 1st gear.

I was playing with the autostick and saw that there was a difference from my 5.7. Just asking a question Jose.

no. the indicator may show 5 or 4 or 3 but the trans will go into lower gears. on the way up it will stoop at the number on the selector.

Def not a new feature! My dads '08 commander overland will let you select any gear at any time. The SRT auto stick program is 1000000x better then the one in the 5.7s. I wonder if the LX R/T's experience the same?
