Hey guys I have been lurking in the background now for the past couple months. I love this site! I have always had a Jeep Grand Cheokee(1st a 96 limited then now an 01 fully modded out, Ill post some pix soon of it...)Well im gonna take the plunge on an 06 black with navi this week. The one thing im nervous about is that i was at a light and i went to race an srt4. I shot out ahead of him, I thought i saw a cop in the corner of my eye and immediately let go of the gas. When i did this the check engine light came on and there was an immense amount of lost power. When i would press the gas it would only go like 10 - 15 mph. I pulled over shut the car off and gave it a sec, then restarted and it was fine but the check engine light was still on. Is this something that has happened to anyone else? Does it need that tcm reflash or whateva you guys have been talking about?? Thanks for the help!

I'm a little confused. Did this happen while you were test driving the 06? Your post is a little vague in this area. Or was this in your older Grand Cherokee?

As far as the lost power goes...this would occasionally happen to my 2007 GCSRT8. The dealer discovered that the **shifter module** was defective, not the TCM. They did reflash the TCM after replacing the shifter control module as part of the procedure. This might be the issue with whatever SRT8 you were driving.
