: It's that time - Trade Jeep for new or Q7?
ProjectWJ 12-02-2009, 09:40 AM I know, this board is biased to Jeep. I am too, this is my third and if I buy a new one it'd be my fourth in a row! LOL. I have a line on a new '10 SRT8 Fully Loaded, pretty much just ike the one in my sig, but went to the SF Auto Show last night and I have to say, the '10 Audi Q7 is growing on me. Anyone have any expereince with the Audi?

SVT_GT500 12-02-2009, 09:48 AM I like the Q5 better than the Q7 with the prestige package.
Compared the Jeep they are both different Animals. In your life right now are more Focused on performance and having fun or luxury amenities and comfortability.
The only way to get the V8 on the audi is to get the Prestige package and that starts at $61,000 either way you should test drive the Audi and see how you like it compared to the jeep.
Good luck with your choice both are killer rides.
bcm0018 12-02-2009, 10:00 AM Just curious why you would upgrade from an 07 to a 10?? If you want somethign different I could see trading on the Q5 or Q7. I am not the bigest fan of the looks but their interiors seem pretty nice.
jim383 12-02-2009, 10:06 AM Im diff as i dont care to much on how they look as much as i do for the performance. I have always had good luck with mopars thats why i have owned them since 1959. I also am 1 to buy american if i can.
ProjectWJ 12-02-2009, 10:14 AM 65k miles on the 07 and I need a new car for tax/business purposes (sec 179). I'm sure I'll miss the performance, but the fit and finish on the audi is a nice upgrade.

I actaully think the jeep interior has progressed nicely but I doubt its as nice as the audi. If you trade up every 2-3 years why not try something different and if you dont ike it as much I'm sure you can survive it for a few years.
Only thing I would worry about is the future of the SRT8GC depending on how much you love it since people arent sure its going to be around with the new jeep design.
pjs1965 12-02-2009, 10:32 AM I've owned 2 Audi's and they are great cars. The fit and finish is very good. The quality of the materials is great and their interiors are regarded as the best in the industry. As for performance, yeah, they're good. The S-line is a nice upgrade for looks but I don't thing the SUV has that.
Maintenance is reasonable for the price you're paying. Don't expect it to be comparable to the Jeep. The 40k service on an A6 was nearly $800 but it did include ALOT of things so, eh.
The Q7 has grown on me too. The V8 version especially.
WBSRT 12-02-2009, 11:10 AM I was about to trade my AR in for the Q7 when they first came out, I was looking to do something like this. New New Q's are Hot IMO.

Keep the '07 GC and mod the snot out of it....Use the Audi for the DD.
Taxman doesn't care if you don't sell the other vehicle, only that you buy another one! LOL!!!
Weird concept when the tax man makes you spend your money on new toys, isn't it?
ProjectWJ 12-04-2009, 03:02 PM Insane - So I've been talking to these guys at Orange Coast Jeep in Southern Cal via carsdirect.com. They sent me paperwork, and I planned to review this weekend and make a final decision on the Q7 vs. SRT8. Well, I'm at my desk at 12:30 and a driver walks into our lobby asking for me - they shipped the car from LA, never told me. Haven't talked to the dealer at all actually. Appearantly, the carsdirect rep told them asap, so they shipped it. But, I still haven't given them a dime, or signed any paperwork. Last we left it, we were discussing them leaving the car one night next week, so I could swap parts. Anyway, we worked it out - I put his driver on a plane back to LA, I keep both SRT's for the weekend, swap parts, and they're flying their driver up Tuesday to pick up my trade and drive back.
The new SRT is almost exactly like my 07, but the mygig, kicker and HID is a nice upgrade. I even got silver... again. LOL.
What was I thinking?!?! - the Audi is nice, the 4.2L 0-60 in 7.1 starts at $61k BTTL, the 3.2L 0-60 in 8.3 UGH!!!!, I found for $61k OTD, but I got this '10 for $43k ($48k OTD). So what the heck? Still a hell of a lot of fun to drive.
Maybe next time - Audi should really step their game up in the performance department, even the Tahoe's and escalades are faster than that thing!
Crookster777 12-04-2009, 03:31 PM Glad you came to your senses and stuck with the SRT8. :D
ROADRACINGSRT8 12-04-2009, 03:43 PM After having this Jeep for a year there is no way I could trade it in for another SUV....it's just way too much fun to drive.
ProjectWJ 12-04-2009, 05:42 PM If Audi ever brings the 4.2 TDI to the states or puts something out with a respectable 0-60, I still think that's a hell of a vehicle.
HOJeepster 12-04-2009, 06:27 PM the Q7 TDI is suppose to be a BEAST.

YoungMedic23 12-04-2009, 06:43 PM 2ns best looking SUV after the JEep Srt8 IMO
Not a bad choice!
It's interior and technology are superior for sure!!!
But the Jeep is a hands a down a KEEPER
bcm0018 12-10-2009, 12:32 PM Congrats on the new SRT8!!
kokanee13 12-10-2009, 01:02 PM BMW X5 M is the only SUV I would give the Jeep up for!
WS6TA 12-10-2009, 01:43 PM BMW X5 M is the only SUV I would give the Jeep up for!
Yeah, but at $100k. I will need to add several 000's to my bank account before I stop shopping for value/bang for the buck products like the Jeep.
mandan007 12-10-2009, 02:56 PM Good choice by going with the newer SRT8!
