Well, I spent about 4 hours detailing the outside of the SRT8 today. I'd say it's worth it!

The clay bar removed quite a bit of contaminent from the paint! I was shocked, considering the truck is still pretty new (built Nov 06).

You be the judge:

haha thanks!! The sad part is, since it's black, it will look like this for about....24 hours until it's covered in pollen. http://forums.offtopic.com/images/smilies/tear.gifhttp://forums.offtopic.com/images/smilies/tear.gifhttp://forums.offtopic.com/images/smilies/tear.gif

Claybar is my single favorite detailing product. I'm a HUGE believer in it.

Looks AWESOME!!!

what kind of clay and how do you use it. My first try with clay cause some micromarring. What is your wash routine with the clay

Wash first with a quality wash soap. Then cut a brand new claybar in half (it's almost inevitable that it'll be dropped, and once it's dropped on the ground, THROW IT AWAY), then with the clay in one hand and your detail spray in the other hand, spray and scrub. You cannot have too much detail spray lubing up the surface. Stretch and refold the clay many times. Once done, either wash again, or go straight into your polishing and or waxing steps.

Exactly ge2. I'm waiting for my Zaino kit to arrive, but believe it or not this kit I bought was the box from Pepboys from Meguiers! Comes with two small clay bars, detailing spray, an AWESOME microfiber towel and a small bottle of "cleaner wax".

I washed the truck carefully, then dried with a real chamoie (sp?). Then, with claybar and spray in hand, started at one end and did a panel at a time. Spray, rub, spray, rub etc. Then, I used the Meguiers paint cleaner, which applies like wax, one panel at a time. Then, Meguiers polish/glaze one panel at a time. Then finally, two coats of Meguiers wax!

:) I went out this morning, and I could literally blow the pollen off my paint surface haha!

No it removes surface contaminants, rail dust, sap things the eye cannot see the clay bar pics up, after you use it you will see whats onthe clay bar its unreal. I just dropped the first coat of the year of Zaino, 18 coats and counting.

Looks great Mango, you think your black shines now wait till you get to 5 coats of Zaino it will look insane!!!!

Thanks Tony! Yeah I can't wait to get the Zaino kit. I can only imagine how beautiful that will look, and I bet it offers superior long term protection.
