Hey guys:
I was in need of some new brake pads for the rear so I decided to go with some 2006 CTS-V pads as I had read nothing but good things from people using them. Two days after my pads are changed to the CTS-V pads I have an amazingly loud squeal when braking slowly, it's WAY worse than with the factory pads on. Can anyone give me any ideas as to why this squeal appeared? most people have mentioned that the squeal goes away with the CTS pads on?
Thanks for any input
DK
No, I haven't had a chance to bed them yet. Will attempt that tonight and see if it helps.

You have to heat those suckers up.

When i did mine i put copper paste on the backs and "spray on" anti-squeel on the pins and clips. I have not had any problems with this combo. Bedding should help but i didnt need to bed mine and still had no squeel.

Did you use the shims? Hoping to do mine next week and not sure of the consensus on using these or not.
Im not sure if shims are on or not. I just gave the pads to the mechanic and told him to put em on. I gave them a good bedding tonight, and it seems to have fixed the squeal. I'll let you know after tomorrow if its really gone.

I had the same problems with mine (no shims used just the provided Brembo paste) so I went out and bedded the heck out of them by doing some hard braking and problem solved
Just another thing that may tip the balance for you Edmonton SRT is the fact that the CTS-V rear pads cost me $200, and they want $550 for the factory pads. They are basically the exact same pads, chrysler just triples the price.

I used the Akebono Euro Ceramic 06 CTS-V rear pads and supplied paste and no squeal. Been on for 5500 miles or so.

after bedding them in, no squeal here. its like heaven compared to what it was with the stock pads
They seem much quieter after bedding. But I noticed during normal driving the rears are not really engaging compared to the fronts, the front rotors will be blazing hot, while the rears stay mildly warm. Is this normal? do the fronts do most of the work?
