: Worst question ever asked by a Jeep dealer!
QuickOne 11-18-2009, 12:41 PM So I called a local Jeep dealer in the town that I work.
I asked if they had any SRT8 GC's in stock or coming in. The guy said I am pretty sure, but let me call you back.
So he calls back and says no, that they are not getting any in and that no one buys that model.:mad::mad: (Right then, I wanted to go off on him, but I held my tongue)
So then he asks "Why would you want that engine anyway?":eek:
I asked him to repeat, because I didn't believe my ears. So he said, "what do you need that model for?"
I asked him, "Are you really asking me that question?" "Are you being serious right now"...He said, yes.. So I just said "420HP" and he said..."Oh, you need it for towing then!":rolleyes:
How can the most expensive model in a line up not be known of it's capabilities or lack there of.
I had to instruct him, that it actually tows half of a standard GC...
And then people wonder why dealerships go under.:boohoo:
BOYCHIKS 11-18-2009, 12:44 PM Lol, what a poor salesman. Very little knowledge I see.
Yes, these dealers go under for the lack of the salesman and the knowledge of the cars available.
Vinnysrt8 11-18-2009, 12:51 PM stupid salesman
Harrison@Stage6 11-18-2009, 01:01 PM I would have come back and asked him if he was SERIOUS? Then I would have asked him if in fact he knew ANYTHING about what he's selling! What a douche!
Toothmonger 11-18-2009, 01:05 PM That ranks up there with "Would you like your tires rotate with that oil change?"
YogiSRT8 11-18-2009, 01:21 PM Eh I just chalk it up to him wanting to sell you one of the ones he has on the lot and thinking he can dissuade you from the srt8 for a 5.7 model.
But yeah he doesnt know anything about his brand thats for sure.
eddiefig 11-18-2009, 01:24 PM What a dill hole. Lol.
jps043 11-18-2009, 01:34 PM what a clown...
grocery getter 11-18-2009, 01:57 PM I got one from the parts department...
Called into GO WEST Golden and asked the parts manager to see if he could give me the part # and cost for the GC lardeo black moulding window and door trim peices because I wanted to switch out the chrome trim pieces on the SRT8. First reponse was....
Parts Manager - "Need a VIN"
GG - "My SRT* VIN # is XXXXX, but I need pieces off the GC Lardeo model to remove my trim peice"
Parts Manager - "I can't do anything without a VIN #"
GG - "Can't you go into your car database and pull that information from the system or look at one on the lot?"
Parts Manager - "No I can't if I don't have the VIN # I can't do anything. If you want you can drive down here and find a GC Laredo pull the VIN # off and give that to me to enter into the system"
GG - "WTF, are you serious? Can't you simply ask a sales person to pull that information from one of the cars?"
Parts Manager - "No I don't have the time"
GG -"Unbelievable?? Ok I guess customer service doesn't exist for you. Can I get your name and can I speak to the manager"
Parts Manager - "I'm a part time worker and my manager is not here he is at lunch"
GG - "Ok please forward me to his VM"
Needless to say I can see why Chrysler is in trouble....oh and by the way I found the part # thanks to forum members

Yogi,
I know that was the original idea behind the question, but when I said 420 HP and he suggest, Oh, you must be doing some serious towing with that thing, purely exposed his stupidity, as in his mind, he painted himself into a corner.
I would have rather heard him say, "I'm not too familiar with those, why is that model so special to you?" Then I would have elaborated and he could have heard me and my diarrhea of the mouth and how cool the SRT8 is and why it's the best 40K vehicle on earth!....:D:D:D
grocery getter 11-18-2009, 04:47 PM Not yet...ordered them online waiting....

Amen brotha
OBSRT8 11-18-2009, 11:18 PM They are trying to sell cars because they do not know how to do anything else.I think the word is stupid.
MIKE SRT8 11-19-2009, 01:06 AM Looking at the Jeep.co.uk used cars website in the UK, three SRT8's are advertised. Each one says it comes with a full size spare wheel!:D. They must be confusing them with the Overland and Limited versions.
MatFab 11-19-2009, 05:44 AM I say you post the name and number of the salesman and everyone just calls and asks for SRT8GC's today... maybe he will look into them ha
POWERDEE 11-19-2009, 05:45 AM Huh. I thought salesmen try to get you to buy the most exspensive model and work their way down. I'm sure his manager wasn't around to hear that conversation.
DJ Red Barron 11-19-2009, 07:59 AM Gotta love uninformed people who work in a dealership.
I did some time working at a Jeep dealer back when the 06 SRTs were starting to hit the ground. I have this conversation with two people in the office one day. It goes a little something like:
Idiot 1 - This guy keeps calling and asking about some kind of STR Jeep.
Idiot 2 - What the hell? What's he talking about?
Idiot 1 - Who knows... You know how these idiot customers are sometimes. They just like to ask for **** that doesn't exist to watch people try to jump through hoops.
Me - Umm.. Guys... The potential customer was probably asking about the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8.
Idiots 1 & 2 look at me simultaneously with a boggled expression with no clue what I am speaking of.
Me - It's the SRT8 Cherokee... 420 horse, all wheel drive... Hot rod Cherokee, guys.. Come on. You don't know about these things? Here... Take a look. (I pull up SEVERAL pics from eBay and other places of GC SRTs on the ground at other dealers)
Idiots 1 & 2 - Oh wow... Look at that.. How cool... We have GOT to order some of these. I bet we can sell one to so-ad-so... Blah, blah, blah.
Me - You probably could sell to that guy who has called 4 times in a week looking for one too. (I then walk away to go laugh aloud at these people)
Now, ignorance in the sales force is nothing new to some dealerships. But these people.... Well, Idiot 1 was the dealership OWNER and Idiot 2 was the General Manager.
Salesmen at dealerships are morons for most part
never forget the time i sat there arguing with a dealer cuz he swore the jeep srt was RWD. He insisted on it. Then he told me not to buy it in nov. To wait till the summer. I said excuse me.? Ur really gonna tell a customer not to buy a car because of the time of year. If i was the owner i would fire you on the spot.
