: HID's INSTALLED!! WOOOH!!
Mango 03-29-2007, 07:01 PM WELL....as some of you know it's been a struggle getting my HID's installed. First, I took BAD advice from a member on the "other" SRT forum. He led me down the wrong path. Next, Xenondepot was incredibly slow in mailing my package out. Finally, I had the wrong bulbs.....
Well everything is DONE! www.hid-sin.com came to the rescue and hooked me up with a full German made, high end, McColluch HID system! Two in fact, 9006 lows 6k and H10 Fogs 3k.
Looky looky!!

jbreezy 03-29-2007, 07:06 PM did you install or a shop? and did you have to put in relays?
BILLSHOE 03-29-2007, 07:12 PM I Removed My Hids From Low And Fogs From Daytona I Know They Are All The Same But Do I Need Special Relay I Was Using? Mango Good Look I Like
Mango 03-29-2007, 07:16 PM I installed the lowbeam kit myself, my Dad guided me and we installed the Fogs together in our shop! It looks completely OEM from the inside. We used loom and mounted everything completely stealth, with the hood up or even looking from underneath you can only tell by the ballasts.
YES you need a special harness depending on the BRAND ballast you use!
http://xenondepot.com/product.php?product_id=111
That wiring harness is what my Xenondepot kit came with. My dad and I had to fabricate our own plugs to mate with the McColloch Ballast.
laddcruzer 03-29-2007, 09:54 PM Also have the 6000k's except used a Phillips HID kit. All wiring harnesses were included and no modification was necessary other than had to add the relays. Got the kit from Zenonking. Good company.
GodfatherSRT8 03-29-2007, 10:40 PM Looks good. I am suprised you didnt go with the matching HID's for the fogs.
Black_SRT8 03-29-2007, 10:54 PM Great pics. Does HID-SIN sell relays? What type of relay do we need, 30A?
Mango 03-30-2007, 04:00 AM Looks good. I am suprised you didnt go with the matching HID's for the fogs.
I was going to, but I like the extra bad weather visibility that the yellow light offers. I have a long commute to work, and if I get stuck in nasty fog/etc. the yellow fogs really help light up the roadway markings.
Plus, if I get sick of the yellow I'll throw in some 6k H10's, the ballast can take any bulb up to 6k.

I'm blown away by the difference between the HID and Silverstars

I do feel that way. You left out a *CRITICAL* detail in your posts. The fact that the 9005 bulbs DO NOT fit the fog lights....****UNLESS YOU MODIFY THE FOG HOUSING****. :p :p
No worries though, it's all better and I'm over it. Plus, I fully understand that I take the risk of doing mods based on what I read on the forums. It's all good though, you more than made up for it in your PM's after the fact. And THANK YOU For calling your mechanic like you did. Pretty awesome of you. :)
I just look at it as part of the fun of modding!
kramsay1234 03-30-2007, 03:27 PM Mango - bought my 9006's Philips from Xenondepot this afternoon. Will be installing tonight.
sbkim 03-30-2007, 03:30 PM mango - looks awesome. How does the 3K look? I am sure pictures don't do justice. Does it look really yellow or is it about as yellow as stock headlights?
THanks

Fair enough. The modification to the fog housing took less than 5 minutes with a utility knife. Glad your worked without any modification. While I didn't install this set I have installed sets on my Cobra, my wife's MB and a friends car....and they all needed a little work with the knife to get a really tight fit.
The fogs make the biggest difference don't they....I absolutely love the hid fogs!!!
Black_SRT8 03-30-2007, 04:25 PM What about the relay?...
MNBob 03-30-2007, 08:16 PM Yeah, I want to hear about the relays too. Do you need 2 relays or one? Do you put them out by the lights? Can you get a plug in relay kit or a kit that includes relays?
GodfatherSRT8 03-30-2007, 08:52 PM for the kit that i had, I only needed the relay for the 9006's, the fogs were just plug and play.
Mango 03-30-2007, 09:00 PM Both of my kits came with relays wired into the harnesses. I'm not sure if the Fogs *need* the relay, but it was part of the McColloch kit so I used it. Not a single problem so far and they fire up every time!

You have KIDS with relays and harnesses in them, Cool? Are they like robots?JK
Mango 03-31-2007, 07:36 AM HAHHHAA Worst...typo....ever.
MNBob 03-31-2007, 07:25 PM Thanks, Mango. I went to the Xenon Depot and this is what it said about their XenonDepot HID Conversion Kit:
The harness provided will include upgraded fuses and relays to ensure you do not draw a higher current from your stock harness than it was designed to provide.
So the harness includes the relays and comes with the kit. Sounds pretty easy to install, I think I am going to order them.
Mango 03-31-2007, 07:28 PM Yeah it's great! Just plug the factory harness into one lead, plug the other into your ballast, and bam! Away you go. :)
Derwood98 04-18-2007, 07:54 PM I just ordered a low beam set along with fog for mine. Steve at xenondepot.com is a great resource. He made suggestions to my applicaton and I have the kits on order. I hope to get them this Friday and will make the install this weekend. Pics to follow.

Ahhh, they are installed. The first pic is the before. They were so dim the camera needed the flash. The after, the camera didn't need the flash.

Are those lows 8k or 6k?
Derwood98 04-21-2007, 02:58 PM Are those lows 8k or 6k?
Those are 6k lows.
TRD43 04-26-2007, 12:02 AM Derwood those look great! Ive been speaking with Steve at XenonDepot; definitely agree about a great resource!
Im planning on picking up the 9006 6500k Xtreme kit that they have for the low beams. They just dropped the price on them to $225 so its mighty tempting =)
kman999 04-26-2007, 05:07 AM I'm thinking of picking up a kit also. Question for you guys.
What's the difference in the 9006 6500 Xtreme Kit listed at 225$ and the t 9006 / HB4 6000k XenonDepot HID Conversion Kit which is listed at 415$? Do both come complete with harness, relay, ballasts? From reading their site, both should be plug and play. Just wanted to confirm with you guys who have bought both types. Thanks!

Extreme Kit is not Philips slim ballasts, etc. They are a more generic brand which makes them cheaper in price. I just paid up and went with Philips to be on safe side, but the Extreme may be ok.
Derwood - looks great. What did you put in your fogs? I didn't use HID's in my fogs, but upgraded to Silverstar Ultra 9005's. Since the 9005's are higher wattage it definitely made them brighter. The Silverstars did nothing noticeable in the highs, so I left those stock.
propedderkustoms 05-02-2007, 12:15 AM Are your dad's lights the silverstar ultra or are they stock sylvanias?
propedderkustoms 05-02-2007, 12:21 AM Why is it that you aren't supposed to leave the light setting in Auto anymore after you get HIDs?
TRD43 05-03-2007, 09:29 AM I went with the xtreme kit for $225. I could not be happier with the result.
According to Steve at xenondepot, he said that in terms of quality they are both great! The xenondepot line is more expensive as it uses german components. The xtreme kits use Asian components (japanese bulbs). They have been selling the xtreme line for approx 4 years now. Both products lines come with the wiring harness.
kramsay1234 05-03-2007, 11:43 AM Why is it that you aren't supposed to leave the light setting in Auto anymore after you get HIDs?
There is occasional flickering of your headlights when the truck is off and you do things like lock the doors or open and close one of the doors. Something about the "A" mode constantly sending a signal of power to headlights, sometimes enough to cause the ballasts and ignitors to fire and turn right off. Happens once in a while, but not too bad. The theory is that the excess firing of the lights will shorten the life of the bulbs (which it will). But if you don't do that much driving or don't mind replacing bulbs earlier, you can leave in "A".
I tried going to manual turning on and off and the problem seems to have gone away, but I like the "A" mode, so now and living dangerously.
Firebelly 05-07-2007, 08:55 PM Picking up my Jeep in about a month. HID's are first on my list of mods. Is the Auto mode fully functional with the new lights...including high/low switching? Do you know if it's possible to replace all of the lights including lows, highs, and fogs with HID's?

Yes you can replace all the bulbs. Someone on here even did the reverse lights.
The DCM control modules are kind of funky from what I am used to, But if you wire it correctly and keep your relay sealed up and away from water you should be able to use the Auto, BUT with the correct HID's you will not need your highs often!!!
Street WK 05-07-2007, 09:36 PM Yes. For the most part HIDs will eliminate the need for you high's (brights).

where did you mount relay balast and fuse??
I got zenonking kit wired up and working just not sure where to mount the boxes??
thanks
FastSRT8GC 05-10-2007, 06:33 AM I have four ballasts, I mounted them behind the grill on the bumper support.

did you drill into front headlight and grill support and then use self tapping screws?? and hang ballast and relays from it?? if you did drill into this bar will that be a good ground for relays?
thanks
