i am driving up the garden state parkway this morning and this punk in an mecereds benz sl 500 pulls up next to me at about 75mph and gives me the singnal he wats to go. So i go and proceed to beat his ass to about 130 mph before i pulled back. I was actually shocked that I would beat him at such high speed figuiring the mb would be faster. Oh well too bad for him and his 85k car.

The SL500 is dog slow...no challenge. Has a 302hp V8.
Even the 07 SL550, with the bumped 80hp is in the 0-60 5.1-5.2 range.

From a 75mph roll, 0-60 times don't mean anything. It's entirely possible that the SL550 could give us a run for our money because we are trying to push through the "wind wall" with a brick while they are pushing a wedge. ;)

I actually pulled on a SRT-8 GC in my SL-500 before I bought my '07 GC. We went from 50 to around 120-125....had the GC by 1 car......:o

Of course, there is no doubt that a high speed race against an SL550 could very well fall out of our favor. But I'm guessing more into the upper mph mark (85-90).
I test drove an SL550 for a few hours, didn't beat on it but overall felt rather quick but not really all that fast.
4220lbs pounds, 382hp/391lb ft. torque.

Not to be confused with the SL55 which would just open a can of whoopa$$ on us at those speeds...

High speed would have the SRT. My SL is limited at 155mph. The Hemi.....no limit other than hp which is about 165mph I believe.

I doubt it. Yes, the Jeep would pass the SL at 155, but the SL has 500 less lbs, only 38 less hp, is aerodynamically shaped and not dragging an AWD drivetrain so it should beat the Jeep to 155. It may be just a fender ahead, but that's where I'd have my money.
