: What Do You Do?
Jerod 05-29-2006, 02:05 PM After seeing how many young people there are with these SRT8's, I am curious to what everyone does for a living. I don't have an SRT8 because I am going to be moving across the country soon and it doesn't exactly get good mileage moving from AK to NH most likely :) I will pick one up when I get there though....just will have to be next years model. Right now I have an SRT4 and I am a Sales Manager for a new construction/remodeling company.
I work for a small family run publishing company. We publish a trade magazine for engineers who work on contract assignments.

Damn am I out of the technology loop, when did CAT-6 Cable come out? Is it highly used. I have all CAT-5.
Cat 6 is probably within the last 5 years or so. Pretty much EVERYONE uses it (office, warehouse, medical, manufacturing, tech etc) exclusively now. It's gigaspeed (so is 5E but 6 has lower latency though I doubt whether its ever realized in the real world). Cat-6 also has a higher theoretical throughput and less chance for cross talk. For home or home office there isn't any reason to upgrade from cat-5e to cat-6 but if you're starting from scratch it makes sense to go cat-6.

Don't limit yourself! I have a BSME and was a Senior Development Engineer for Daimler for 10 years until I followed my passion in construction, based in Charlotte. Whether it is an auto body shop, construction, or what ever...chase your passion and don't get locked into something that you don't like. One of my neighbors that retired a year ago (early age) opened an online costume jewelery store and another neighbor opened up a vending business. It does not take rocket science! We want you to succeed and get the fresh ride when it makes sense. Under qualified? Wrong!
