I decided to change my oil at 1K. I bought the OEM filter and oil from Autozone.

If I can make one suggestion, let the truck cool down! Taking the drain plug off wasn't the issue, it was the filter. The location of the filter is kind of awkward. It was not real easy to get to with the oil wrench and when I got it off, the oil spilled on the frame and sway bar. I had to get my hand up in the area to get the filter off and obviously the filter was very hot.

BTW, the center muffler or resonator is massive. I didn't measure but it is easily over a foot wide by 2.5 feet.

Loving the truck!

Have you ever heard Bill Engvall's routine about the guy test driving the car and grabbing the muffler? "That's gonna be hot! Here's your sign!"

There is a drain trough mounted on the front clip so that oil from the filter will drain off into the pan and not make a mess. It's much easier to use a filter cap socket and a ratchet to loosen the filter instead of an oil filter wrench.

I could see the trough but still managed to get oil on the frame. It did catch most it and directed towards my catch pan.

Good to know about the socket, it definitely would make the job easier.
