Is it me or is the stock exhaust NOT made of stainless steel. I was moving my wife's car into the garage the other day and was looking at the rear of the GC SRT8 and low and behold, there was rust building up on the curved pipes leading from the rear of the tips towards the mufflers! Took a closer look under and the saw more!
Anyone else notice this? I'm up in Canada where we love salt, so that doesn't help. But come on, my old 328 has gone thru many winters and no sign of rust. Wifes 1.7 EL is rust free too. Not very impressed.
Would this be covered under warranty? Its a long shot since exhausts typically arent, but this is pretty ridiculous.
Since I only have 2300 miles on it, is there anything I can do besides swapping out the exhaust. I don't feel like dropping coin on a new exhaust for the moment (maybe later this year), so can I wirebrush off the rust and spray the pipes with some heat resistant coating? any suggestions?
