there is no doubt stock for stock it would be an even match.. the only advantage of a subbie is the 6speed

Funny they think that it's on the highway, not the 1/4, where we would pull away. I would wager the opposite.

Decent ones that haven't been abused are hard to find. Got mine on ebay...all original, 29K miles...
Really no match for a tuned subie, but fun nonetheless... but going woith the original thread, it can smack a srt8 from a dig, no problem

Wade or someone from Austin wanna put this kid in his place... I can make it happen and would laugh my arse off... I'm tempted to ask him if he wants to put his money where his mouth is lol

A good friend of mine who owns an 04 STI, ALWAYS used to talk smack about the Jeep when it was stock. Now that I have a couple mods and some track times, he's awefully quiet.

1 broke down at the track tonight... held up every one forever.

lol in that thread they were talking like the Jeep was another small 4cyl turbo awd car. Only like 1 person mentioned the size / weight difference between the two.

I'm sure in every forum there's a handful of guys running some really great 1/4 times. We have a bunch (Junior, YoungMedic, Jdan07, Sarge, Muellge, Despi etc). I'm sure there's more that don't even post on a regular basis and I haven't met yet. So there may be a few STi's that may catch a stocker like mine occasionally but overall, they're just talking smack.
Honestly, if a 3000lbs 300hp car can't completely embarrass an SUV, they shouldn't be talking period.

I like how they put a general mid 13's 1/4 mile time for the cheap and they put an exact 13.29 1/4 mile time for their cars. They are not faster than the Jeep stock at all. If they are going to put the fastest stock time they should put the jeep at 12.8-12.9.

I gave one of these things a head start in my GT500 and flew bye him like nothing. I always have to try when I race a Jeep.

On a side note, did anyone catch the comment from the "chevy and mopar tech" about the "front drive control module? I actually am a certified chrysler technician, working at a dealership, and I cant find anything about it. Strange......

there are a few sick STIs out there... but for the 80 - 90% of the stis out there, our Jeeps can walk em' ( W/ the extra 1500+ lbs!!)
no questions asked

Like one of them said. We dont need to get into a "Modded" argument over a 2.5L vs 6.1L
We all know who has the advantage at the end of the day

Damn, Steffan! That's a BOLD statement! (I used to own an '04 STI :D)

Aside from the Jeep, the STI was the most fun I've had owning a vehicle. The one drawback during the year I had it was that I felt like I belonged to the wrong demographic, though. Seemed like every punk ass teenager driving a Honda with an exhaust was wanting to race! Trust me, that sh*t got old QUICK. Not to mention that the STI was an absolute cop magnet!

I guess my thing is this - everyone and their mother expects a rally blue sports car to go fast, but not the same for a 5,000-lb SUV. That right there is why I love the Jeep!

Well you my friend are an exception... Your a good guy Brian, Not a douche by any means!
That being said, when I was in highschool the sti drivers were the most overconfident smart ass racers.. But they always had the fastest car.
They are pretty quick... when you race highschool kids in hondas, and VW`s

I have never really been impressed with evos or STI's. I see them run at the tack a lot and most of the time they are modded and cant get out of the 13's.

Ive gone more STI's than any other vehicle. I went the same guy after work 5-6 times over the course of a couple of weeks. It is always the same result- the jeep gets a half length through the intersection and continues to pull away slowly. I cant goat any of em anyomre.

I see the STI's and EVO's run all the time at the track........They run mid to high 13's all night long.....

Most of them do this when launching......."Chirp......Bob.....Swooosh"

Modded ones I've seen runing 11's and 12's but stockers with a "can" out the back mid 13's

Car forums are funny as sh!t.......The STI guys think our Jeeps are all POS...... LMAO, hahahha

I have to chime in on this one as I currently have a 2008 Subaru Legacy Spec B. I would say that I was very surprised and impressed when I just got my 07' SRT8 on just how quick it is.

It seems that every car forum out there that rags on other makes/models. The subaru guys knocked mustangs and american muscle, and vice versa. But when it comes down to it, you can slap $15K in parts or an engine build in just about anything and make it fast. Obviously it will take more power from the heavy SRT8 to match the speed of a much lighter and less powerful subaru, and the subaru will more than likely perform better on a road course while the srt8 is better on a drag strip.

I love both cars, but would have to say that the subaru is a good bit faster than the Jeep. The car does only weigh 3650 lbs, and has 375awhp/393Tq on CobbTuning's Mustang Dyno and trapping 113 last time I had it out. Here are some pics:

the ebay link was added to provide a parts list to compare what all it takes to bring a tiny 2.5L to that power level (conservative tune + meth injection)

NASIOC or Nabisco as many call it is notorious for the smack talking. It is one of the most comprehensive car forums i have ever seen but that being said when a new person shows up they really are not very polite with newbie questions (the worst i have seen from all forums).

I loved my subarus for what they were but i agree it really is a different demographic in general and thats why i wanted out of it. I do miss the feel of a turbo'd car but thats another discussion.

I didnt read the thread but i would think it is common knowledge that the subaru wasnt really made for drag racing so i wouldnt expect it to be good at that and that the jeep should win. Lastly, While the jeep does handle well i think the sti/evo are in another category handling wise having driven them all but thats just me im sure some of you will fight me on that.

If you slap 15K on a 6.1L vs a 2.5L 4cyl the Hemi has the advantage big time... It doesnt cost a ton of $$$ to lighten up the Jeep, Just alot of time.

Just my .02

I agree W/ u on one thing, it is easier/cheaper to get the subbie around a track rather than in a straight line.

LOL reality bites doesn't it. Just young punks who need to make themselves feel good after spending all that $$$ to make their cars faster LOL. I'd like to see some of them put there $$$ where their mouth is. Meet up and race down the 1/4 with us.
