Wow, I had this decision about 3 weeks ago. I had a 2005 Audi S4 B6. Just from expierience, both have pro's and con's. The Audi handled amazing on twisty roads. Had descent power from the 4.2 V8. Once I test drove the GCSRT8, I was addicted. I do miss the plush Audi leather interior. But that's about it. :)

I really don't think you can compare them. One's a car, and One's an SUV.....if you even want to call the GCSRT8 a SUV....it's more like a beast!

If I were you, and money isn't a issue.... I would consider the GCSRT8 or the Audi RS4. The RS4 is sick....but sure costs a pretty penny.

You obviously know what direction I went. 2007 Black GCSRT8! No regrets! :)

Just my 2 cents..............

I had the b5 s4 twin turbo with stage 2+ APR. Loved it. Now I love my Jeep. If I had my choice between the 2 - I would take the Jeep.

ya 2 totally different cars. Bling factor the Jeep would win. Depends on what you need it for though. Daily drive? Id get the S4 cause gas would be cheaper. Fun vehicle for speed, get the Jeep

The GC SRT leases out like crap, but then again so does the S4.

So you're even. :)

I am leasing my 06 GCSRT for $714/mo., and my out of pocket was $2000.

RS4 > Jeep > S4

Well...I traded my 2003 Audi RS6 for my 2006 Jeep GC SRT8. It was a decision based on economics (getting divorced). I will admit that there are times that I miss the RS6 (sniff...sniff)....but when I think about how much money I am saving, it eases the pangs. The GC SRT8 has some features which blow the Audi away (uconnect, nav system is way better, dvd player). I do miss the nappa leather and carbon fiber interior trim. The GC SRT8 does have more instantaneous torque (no twin turbos to spool up) and sounds and looks meaner....and really...isn't that what a musclecar (or muscletruck) is all about?

I know what you mean. My Volvo (yes, a Volvo) may be fun on the freeway with 15lbs of boost, but nothing on the street beats the Jeep launch.

audi...this truck is fun but it has me thinking of the next m3. the best way to describe this thing is "bang for the buck". it is w/o a doubt, brutally fast and it handles unbelievably well for what it is...even at speed it will dart in and out of lanes as though it were on rails. but, everything else that the audi is...this jeep is not. don't get me wrong, arguably one shouldn't expect this thing to be as refined as an s4 but for my money...if i were doing it over again...m3/s4. incidentally...the cap cost reduction on all high perf. veh. sucks.

Hey the Volvo's are well respected in Europe for a reason. From 50mph and up, the jeep has no chance against my wife's Volvo. From a dig though, it's all catch-up (maybe at 100?)

As for the S4, it's alright. Not much of a head turner. Interior is much nicer, but that's it for me.

I know it doesn't apply to all Audi's, but acquaintances of mine have had more than their share of warranty issues with theirs.

Have you ever tried to launch that R? I've been told a 4k rpm clutch drop is pretty fun. My father has an '04 V70 R and is to chicken to try it for fear he will damage his clutch.

The interior on the Audi is flawless. It was a fun car. But just didn't do it for me like the GCSRT8. You know one thing that pissed me off about my S4 was it didn't have an mp3 player in the stereo. It only had 6cd changer, and Satellite radio. What a bumber. You would think for a 2005, they would get with the program! I love my Jeep.... Hands down, buy the JEEP! :)

Well I would have if it was manual, but I'm sad to say it's an auto trans :(
Wife can't drive stick, and the dealer was giving us a great deal on it.

The difference between the manual and automatic is night and day. :(

My '03 RS6 spent over 5 months (130+ days) in the shop in the 2 years I owned it. Audi's customer service was basically terrible even though I had a named rep dedicated to me (A8 and the nominal ~1000 2003 RS6 owners got these, they still called it the A8 team though). Had several acquaintances tell me of their issues as well on other products of Audi's and I have no positive stories from those either. The experience soured me to VW related brands (Audi, Porche, Lambo) for the long term.
