: GC SRT8 as wife/GFs daily driver?

Anyone here own a GC SRT8 that is their girlfriend/fiance/wife's daily driver? Considering buying a pre-owned one from a friend in the Feb-April 2010 time frame. It would be her daily driver 90% of the time, and my toy 10% of the time. She/we like the mid-size SUVs for the space, i.e. 4-door practicality and large cargo hold for our big dog. And the looks/performance of the SRT8 is the bonus. She would be coming out of TBSS, and had a BMW X5 before that. (I know all about the performance difference/ride characteristics between the GC SRT8 and TBSS, not here to debate that.)

Just wanted to toss it out there to see if anyone's lady drove one had any comments one way or another, advice, pros/cons, etc., etc..... Thanks.

She will be fine.

Many GCsrt-8`s I see in my area are girl drivers....She should fit right in.

From experience, she will be fine. As long as she is used to a lot of power, which I see she is from past cars, I wouldn't worry. I love my rig because you can drive it as a normal SUV, and when you need/want the power, it's right there. The power has actually gotten me out of some bad situations in traffic and whatnot. Also, for an SUV, the suspension is obviously much better than other SUVs on the market. If I were you, I would lower it for her to have more stability. I actually just had to avoid some big azz pipe thing in the road the other night, and my rig went around it with ease. Just my 2 cents :)

I think you wife will love it, especially coming out of the TBSS :D

But with my experience, my gf loves to drive it, and would every day if she could. My mom hates it, because every one always asked her questions about it, and she has no idea!! -- but she does love taking it out every once in a while

Oh hell, there's a 60-something grandmom in my neighborhood with one. She picks up her grandkids from school. I see her like 2-3 times a week. I still chuckle over it.

My wife likes the attention she gets in mine.........but she hates the windows being so dark and the paranoya of damaging it cuz I'd kill her

My sister has an 08' and she loves it, Loves all the power!

Go for it...Be carefull though........These Jeeps have ALOT more balls to them then a TBSS (hehehehehe)

When I had my Jeep, my wife would drive it. She had a tbss. She liked alot about her tbss but loved the Jeep except the harsher ride that was about it. All I ever heard when she got home was, this kid in a "Honda" thought he was the **** so I tought him a lesson, lol . She is a power hound :)

So we are going to be getting another srt8 Jeep next spring.

My fiance hates mine...she does notice and laugh at all the attention it gets rolling down the street though!

BUT, there are plenty of women that have them and enjoy them, and with the SUVs your wife is coming out of, I don't think it should be an issue!!!

my wife drives our jeep a lot and loves it... she knows to park far away at corner spots in parking lots and far away from curbs when she needs to parallel park, so i'm not worried at all...:D

The wife drives it 90% of the time. She doesn't realize what lies asleep under the hood. As far as she is concerned it's just another jeep. It's funny because she'll tells me that she is always asked about it and is clueless as to what to say. One time a guy followed her into a store from the parking lot just to ask her about the jeep and she didn't know how to answer his questions. Oh and did I mention she drives like a nun. Not good for my adaptives!

My GF loves driving mine. She is always asking "want me to drive" and i usually say nope, but every once in a while i let her drive and she loves it. I must say she looks quite sexy driving my fast SUV as well. Really it does have a lot of power but with good brakes and awd i dont think it is a challanged to drive. It would be hard to get yourself into trouble (physics wise) with the jeep in my opinion. Not true with high HP rwd cars. I worry a lot more about her driving her camaro than i would in my jeep. Especially since she has already driven an x5 and TBSS she'll be fine for sure.
