: Kenne Bell Update
El Jefe 03-26-2007, 02:03 PM Told some of you I was checking with Kenne Bell for the 6.1 and this is the response I got:
"Sorry we won't be doing anything for these vehicles. The computer is just too hard to work with.
Thank you,
James
Kenne Bell"
Thats shocking. Sorry guys:rolleyes:
Untouchable 03-26-2007, 03:02 PM cool, another one bites the dust
Razorecko 03-26-2007, 03:10 PM add whipple to the list also...contacted them and got the same reply. If I would have know the aftermarket would be so completely dry for this vehicle I might have re thought my choice in purchasing it.

Count me in on that. It would have been a whole lot easier buying a Chevrolet product and sending it to Lingenfelter's shop for a couple of weeks for a 1st class build. Oh well...lets keep on looking!

cajunlab 03-26-2007, 03:33 PM Wont DCX be forced to modify the computer when they release the upcoming CNC heads for the 6.1?
(assuming different cam is included)
Their tune & their heads would be an improvement over the current nothing.

PS I'm not sure what the advantage will be of these heads (CNC or not) since the SRT Engineers already said compression will be unaffected. Better breathing maybe?
Razorecko 03-26-2007, 03:34 PM You can understand if DC wants to keep the aftermarket $$ to themselves by introducing their own performance parts but we dont even have that. The srt-4 has like a gazillions stages and pages full of mopar parts available and we have less than the 5.7L.
cajunlab 03-26-2007, 03:39 PM I may be too optimistic but the upcoming CNC heads release seem like a significant change of position for DCX.
Hopefully the heads weren't designed around the stock computer program ;)
maybe this is the tip of the iceberg?

Maybe they will, maybe they won't. The SRT Engineers in all their infinite wisdom have already said the B&G reflash is identical to the mopar pcm--which makes us wonder where the mopar part is?
Anyway, a retune isn't necessitated when you port heads, so who knows.
Finally, parts from Mopar, FRPP, etc. tend not to make as much power as true aftermarket pieces; don't waste your time with their bs.

Agree:
No tune needed for Mopar ported heads only.
I never heard mention of Mopar cam (did I miss it?)
You would NOT buy a Mopar CAI for increased power and I am doubtful whether my Mopar catback did anything to improve HP (do like the sound though).

Mopar catback is same as corsa and corsa has a hp improvement. I thought corsa/mopar had the largest improvement.
cajunlab 03-26-2007, 06:09 PM Agreed, CAI's & catbacks provide minimal real power....more like hype parts.
I was assuming a cam would accompany the heads to take advantage of their greater flow-ability which would then require a tune.
Regardless, anything short of a blower & tune is a letdown.....to me anyway.
Anyone tried an entire engine swap? What fits?
Hallstar 03-26-2007, 06:20 PM 6.4 and 426 engine swaps are the way to go...Big power for the Jeep!!! I'm still waiting on the review from the ASM supercharger and then I'm definately in on that one!!!
El Jefe 03-26-2007, 07:33 PM I wanna see a C6Z06 motor in the Jeep...
cajunlab 03-26-2007, 07:43 PM if an old school 426 will fit under the hood, anything will!
next step sounds like a no-brainer ;)

Bow tie in Mopar associated sacrilege aside, the LS7 is a badass motor, but you wouldn't be able to see its true potential due to our trannys not being able to handle 7k shifts. You'd be hard pressed to find a slushbox that will take that kind of rpm reliably and still shift well enough to be used in a daily driver. Actually I can't think of one, much less with 5 or more speeds.

Thats why they need to offer the Jeep with a T-56.....how sick would that be.
