I knew the time would come but you're still never ready for it. My Dad has been fighting cancer the past 6 months and the last month has been hard on him. Well a few days ago they said there's not anything more that can me done, that it's now just a matter of time and to keep him comfortable. It's amazing what cancer can do to 68 year old man who most people thought was fifty and was in better shape that most 25 year olds. What's also amazing is that he's ok with everything never complains and is still the happy go lucky guy that's he has always been. Just hope I can be the same way some day. Anyway I'll be traveling today and in Michigan for the next few weeks. If you need something leave a voice mail,email or pm and I'm going to try and check them now and then. I'm sorry to hear this Tom.my Father lost his battle with cancer years ago..he was 57 years old & watching him fade was the worst part..he was a kung fu,kempo karate,& judo instructor & a self employed mechanic & like your dad was strong & full of energy....he said almost the same words as your father,THEIRS NOTHING MORE THAT CAN BE DONE FOR ME,ITS JUST MY TIME..BESIDES YOUR MOTHER IS WAITING FOR ME....believe it or not he passed on their wedding anniversary....again Tom,so sorry to hear this,take care & spend as much time with him as you can,tell him you love him & thank him for every thing he has done for you....for I have done the same & it helped me to cope with my lost after he left us.

My Dad left at 69. Be there as much as you can, you will never regret it. I was there with my family and we held hands when he passed. It was something I will never forget and just an amazing experience!!

So sorry to hear about your Dad. I went through this with my Mom a few years ago and we just went through this with my wifes Dad. In both cases the local hospice organizations were of great help. It's amazing the resources they have available to them that you never think about. Our thoughts are prayers are with you.

Tom - just now reading this since I haven't been on the forums a whole lot lately, and I'm terribly sorry to hear about your dad. A lot of us can make the argument that we each have the best dad in the world - to this day, my father is still the best friend I've ever had. I only hope I can be half the role model to my children that he was while we were growing up. I know it's inevitable, but I dread the day that he finally has to go. I can only imagine what you're going through; make the most of the time you have left with him. You and your family are in our prayers. Hate to see this happen to a class act like yourself. :(

Guys quick update. Tom's father passed Monday early afternoon after a long hard battle with cancer. Our thoughts are with Tom and his family now and we ask all those that have been doing the same to please contiue. Tom will be away for another week or week and a half before returning.
