Hey guys I'm new here this is a great forum with alot of great posters. Im glad I found this place!:)

I know this is a matter of preference but I cant really decide between the black or the silver.

I went to the showroom today and the first one I saw was the Silver. I test drove that and fell in love with it. Then later the guy tells me that theres a black one at the warehouse so we hope in his car and we drive there.

The Black one looked like a wild animal looking for an owner. I couldnt test drive that because it was already sold.

The Silver one looked luxurious and "thicker" or more handsome if you will. Plus it looked more sharp.

I cant choose !! I love black(always go for black) but it doesnt look as good as the silver jeep srt8.

What do I do. How do i decide?? I also like the stealth black color. I wish I could get both! lol Help.

Sounds as if you prefer the silver so you should go with the one you that you will like long term. Either way they are both awesome and I think you will be happy with which ever one you get.

I had an 06' in black, when black is clean it looks awesome. I then traded it for an 07' in silver. For me the balck was way too hard to maintain. It had swirls in the paint after 6 months and it was dirty in 4 hours after washing. Get what suits you lifestyle, if you have time to spend hand washing every other day I would go with black. If you want car wash safe low maint. go with silver. Just my opinion.. Good luck.

The Jeep is first non-black vehicle I have owned in 15+ years. I must say it's much easier to keep looking crisp and clean.(I never thought I would go away from black-but glad I did).:)

Black has the lowest coefficient of drag of all color choices.

You won't even have to do mods to be the quickest if you buy a black one!!!

Defe. go with the BLACK. Sometimes I just can't help but stare at my own ride. It looks bad ass. That and what Mango said, fastest color.

You can't go wrong with either. If you live in a REAL hot climate, silver is going to be easier to live with. If you live in a real dusty, dirty, rainy area; silver is MUCH easier to keep looking fine. If you want to see the sharp design elements of your ride; go with silver. If you love to wash and (carefully) wax your ride almost every day, go for black. There is no better looking vehicle (for up to 2 minutes after you finish washing it) than black.

I live in a hot, dusty climate and I'd rather be driving than constantly washing... so...

I had a black on order, the dealer had a hard time getting it in, but a silver jeep slipped through the cracks and somehow got built before mine which wasn't supposed to happen. Once I saw them together I realized that although black looks best on most cars; these jeeps have nice contours that sliver make standout where the black seems to hide most of the fine edges and effects that are in the body. I bought the silver and haven't looked back since. The great thing is that you will not go wrong with either.

It all depends on whether you are getting 2007 or 2008. If 2007, I'd go with black. If you wait til 2008, by default you will end up choosing silver since 2008 black looks like dirty black.

That silver pic will be a good help in going silver (although we get could an equally deadly black pic). Bottom line is they both look good. I had to decide between the 2 myself because they both look great, but I went with black - cause hey - its black and looks awesome. However, there are many times when I look at my dirty truck that I wish I had gone silver. Since you feel so strongly about the look of silver, I would go that way. Good luck.

Black looks evil, but too high maintenance for me and the bumper details don't show as well vs. silver.

Black beats any damn factory paint, custom paint car out there... BUT only a few minutes after is washed lol.

Silver shows the lines great on the SRT8.

I love my black laredo, but afterthought would have put me in something else.
GOOD LUCK

These trucks look so great. It really is difficult to chose a color. You really cant go wrong with any of them.

Black or silver really is a hard choice, and one I am considering too. Its funny, the "shows the lines" aspect must be an individual specific opinion. I remember when I first saw SRT8s on a dealer lot, the black one just jumped out at me, in your face style. In contrast I had to look around to spy the silver one (that I knew was in their inventory), which looked lost amongst the other Jeeps. My college-age daughter's read on it is: "Silver makes it more of a 'fun, sporty' car. Black is the 'wow, dude, check it out!' color." I do agree with the '07 vs.'08 comment, as that black glitter-disco paint is a non-starter for me.

I'd have to go with Mango on this one. It really depends on how fast you want to go. :p

Black is the way to go.. I just picked mine up yesterday locally here in San Diego.. Rear entertainment package ect... I simply love it :-) I have had my eye on this Jeep since 2006.. I wanted to give the car a year in production just to make sure it tested properly in the market... Certainly it has... Here in California dealers are getting anywhere from 55k and up for a new black model.. Fortunately I purchased mine at sticker price.. :-)

Does anyone out there know anything about satlite dish hook up to enable TV throughout the car... The dealer indicated to me that in Vegas this is being done... Curious if anyone knows anything about that modification as well as perhaps a reputable company that could suede the headliner... It this was done matching the suede inserts I really think it would set off the Truck.. Thanks for your thoughts :D

Black, period! I had a simislar situatin on another car, my 03' vette. I pussed out and got the new color for the year...met. grey. I have regeted my decision ever since! Plus the 285s on the Jeep fits thru the car wash, what do you have to lose but car wash $$!:) :)

Looks amazing! Nice pic man!

I do live in a hot climate and I dont have the time to wash the car everyday. Yes that is it! the sharp design elements really come out and shows with the silver but not so with the black. I never knew a color could dramatically change the appearance of the car like the jeeps do. Thanks for the post. I think im going to go with Silver.

Someone mentioned before though that black has less drag time than any other color is that true??

Please report back on your color choice after you're got a few months of ownership under your belt. The black requires a lot more maintenance.

I still haven't decided whether I made the right choice. Personally, I think the black looks better, but requires a lot more effort and energy.

Of course. It's been scientifically proven.

... black has less drag time than any other color is that true??

While this may be true for the 2 minutes the black vehicle will stay clean after a thorough washing, the rapid buildup of filth on the black paint will render it the slowest of all the available colors. For a WINNING drag race strategy: wash black car, race immediately!:D

is this true?????

Due to the molecular surface tension of the black paint, in thorough wind tunnel testing scientists have determined that it will produce a Cd-A (m/s) of .32164532 vs. Silver paint which produces a .3324573 Cd-A (m/s).

So you see, BLACK = WIN!

Not the best pic, but one I had on my computer. I am sure someone can do better. I have not had a nice enough day yet through winter to wash mine and get pictures before I drive it 10 feet and its dirty. ;)
