 If you look at the number of Jeep Srt8's built to the the # of problems everyone is having it doesnt sound good! makes me sense that the cars are not going to hold up well over time. Anyone else thinking about that.

Overall it seems to be a very reliable vehicle. Just remember that it's more common to complain publically then it is to praise. Jeeps are not known for reliability but I honestly think they did a pretty good job on the new GC (if you can overlook the poor interior materials). The only thing wrong with mine is a few rattles that keep coming back and your average person would be OK with them...I just wish I was one of those people :)

I haven't had any problems with mine. (other than the tire recall, but that's a Goodyear problem) Hopefully it stays this way!

I don't see a lot of major problems with these Jeeps. Care to elaborate?

what problems are you referring to? Mine has been completely trouble free. On the other hand I have a 2007 Denali that has been in the shop 4 times already for misc. electric problems.

I have had mine for almost 1 year. No problems with mine at all.

I have had mine since last July and have had no issues. I had a Dodge Ram 2500 Hemi before this and that forum was constant complaints about issues and I had no problems with that truck in 30000 miles. I love my SRT8 and would recomend it highly.

No. Don't think about it at all. 14months, 27,000 trouble free miles. Not one thing that I would consider an issue. Trans ring leaked, had the tranny shift reflash, and shifter assembly and front rotors replaced. All free, no more than four hours at the dealer while doing oil services.

Comparatively, referring to many other vehicles and their issues it's a no brainer for me. It's holding up very well, and I'll be damned, it even has a warranty.

I know we hear of many having issues, but I consider the issues not to be major, you know like rings not seating, major oil consumption, valves dropping, trannys exploding etc. Any many of us WOT this things a lot, and drive them very spiritedly. For me it is all good.

most the problems are with aftermarket vendors..

Just go to the trouble shooting/ problem solving area and you see things like , rear end being replaced / trans etc, I have almost 10k and have only miner things come up too. so lets hope it stays this way.

No major problems here. I got a few noises when it gets real cold(interior). My WJ went 100k w/no major problems either.

Minor... Brakes rotors/pads. I believe this is a new setup for brembo seeing it was hard to get the pads at first and rears are still not made by some aftermarkets.
I expect this problem from a 4500lb SUV with aggressive pads and 420hp.

Minor... Rear Diff. Mine went with only 7k and they are putting a new one in.

Minor.... Windshield TSB

Minor ... TSB for the Shifting, But this was a result of us complaining not an actual problem. Regardless its much better now. Thanks for Hearing Us SRT Engineers!

So in the broad aspect, a 420Hp 4500lb monster that we beat up every day not bad.

I have 6,000 miles and the only issues have been:
1) faulty CEL light;
2) temperature zooms after slowing down (only with AC off).

I love this vehicle.

actuator went out at 11k
need to get the tsb for "service tire pressure" light.

Otherwise I put this car through abuse as i'm sure many others are doing also. Its a performance machine and as long as it has warranty i wont hesitate to drive it like one.

Problems:
1.) My neck hurts when I take off from a stop.
2.) I am getting less than 25 MPG on regular.
3.) Too many people drooling over it when parked.
4.) Annoying thumbs-up sign while driving.
5.) My next door neighbor with the S/C Range Rover Sport won't talk to me any more.

...I could go on, but after a year of owning it I've resigned myself to live with the "problems". It's only my 4th Grand Cherokee ('93, '99, '02, and the '06). I probably will only buy 5 or 6 more GCs down the road.

11,000 no problems other than o ring on trans, considering how hard I tend to drive and how much fun it is to drive I am more than happy.

Look at the source (this forum), any focused enthusiast site is going to attract all kinds of detail both pro and con. Broader sources (ie consumer reports) don't reveal inordinate numbers of problems.

I have had mine for almost 1 year. No problems with mine at all.

not even brake squeaking or the wind shield seal? i have 5k miles on my 07 and the breaks still squeak and if i do over 80mph (normally all the time!) it sounds like i have a window cracked open. Not really complaining, cause i still think this is the baddest vehicle around for under 80k!

not even brake squeaking or the wind shield seal?

I don't consider the brake squealing a problem. And to be honest the tires are so loud I can't really tell if the windshield seal is a problem or not.

IMO, these types of things come with high performance vehicles; I look at them as compromises rather than problems.

Zero problems with my '07. I love this truck and may sell
the '93 vette as this vehicle does it all for me.

SOme people are just more picky than others. I am on my 3rd SRT. All have had problems.....there is no perfect vehicle. SOme people could care less, and don't look at the paint, how thew doors and fenders align, is the steering wheel centered, is the interior clean, ripped, frayed. Do the brakes squeel, are the bumpers peeling, is the new windshield pitted and lights up like a starburst when the sun hits it just right. Others can have their exhaust dragging on the ground and would say the vehicle is perfect. In my OPINION, Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep need to improve their overall quality. But for the price, still not bad.

MOST problems are caused by half ass dealership service which makes your minor problem into a major one. 90% of dealerships are clueless to fix a POS nevermind an SRT8.

I agree, picky people will always find problems. My 06 with 8k miles is relatively trouble free, no unusual wind noise or leaks, no unusual brake squelling.

I have only had mine for 6 weeks/1200 miles, but have experienced no problems at all to date. Assembly quality is very good - better than expected; Chrysler has come a long way with quality. Mine is stock, and yes there are a lot of posts but many are related to mods/aftermarket issues. After reading through them, I think I'll leave mine stock.

Compromise means that you settle for something less than optimal. i don't like the fit of that term....Try character instead.

Compromise means that you settle for something less than optimal...
Not always. "Compromise" can mean the BEST of "one world" vs not the best of "two worlds". For example, Jeep gave up some of the off-road capability in the SRT8 for performance capability. A compromise I can certainly live with...

Can you tell me more about your differential problem?

I got some weird noises that I am concerned of.

They are like the sound of a minigun from a distance when I take off fast sometimes.(For you military guys)

For those not in the military or that have never heard a minigun, I guess the only way to describe it is like when you have a cell phone on a counter and it starts to ring in vibrate mode.

It happens when I hit a corner hard from a stop and when I am rolling already and I take off almost full throttle. It happens sometimes from stop also.

I hope mines not bad!!!!

At 4500 miles:

1. Leaking red oily fluid like hell from the tranny area. I think its tranny fluid or something from the transfer case.:mad::mad:

2. Burning oil like crazy - 2 quarts from 500-4500 miles:mad::mad::mad:

3. Brake dust/squeaky brakes

I wonder if I have a lemon:(:confused::mad:

Please elaborate on the windshield noise. When I'm at >80 (a little less when windy), there is a whistling noise that from what I can tell is coming from the upper or lower part of my front windshield.

Not sure what problems the original poster is referring to I have had two Jeeps first was an 05 Limited with the 5.7 Hemi was very nice truck. Now I have an 08 SRT8 and its great! Ofcourse your gonna see people post about problems in the forum that is specific for problems. lol Every car forum has a section for that. So I absolutely disagree with your post these are actually very reliable trucks and I love mine!

I also agree there are no perfect cars out there. Even my '08 Tacoma had probs within the first 10k miles. The clutch assembly is laughable, the suicide doors would rattle...the quality of EVERYTHING has gone downhill...why? Cost savings, it's more about the bottom line rather than quality 1st.
