Great find! My kids always leave water in those cup holders so this is something I'll have to keep an eye on. Wow! On a side note, good thing the seat covering is fire retardant.

I wonder what Jeep would do for this. If the NHTSA sees this I bet there would be a different response from Jeep.

Don't blame the car, blame the owner, every car I've owned, I always used a windshield sunshade, not only it keeps the car much cooler, but it also protects the dash, wheel, seat... from UV damage, and the steering wheel won't be hot as hell when you first start driving.

That is friggin insane. I would've never thought that. I think its funny how the owner did it AGAIN for TV. Lol.

So you're saying that windshield shades are mandatory to avoid a potential fire? At my job that's called a work-around (something you create to relieve yourself of an issue). To me, this is more bad design than bad owner but hey, that's just my opinion.

Not mandatory, just good common sense, the jeep is not the only car with cupholders in the back, I'm sick and tired of American cars taking all the bashing, then you wonder why Euro and Jap cars are all people want.

Same thing on TV, they always compare the BMW X6 and the Porsche Cayenne, but never mention the Jeep SRT8, as if they weren't worth a sh1t.

^^ I agree. Too much focus on non-American cars in the trade rags.

I think it's kind of a fluke...sun in the right spot, and I'll bet he was careful to use exactly the same brand of water; anybody whose ever burned things with a magnifying glass as a kid knows you have to focus it just perfectly. I'd like to see it tried with other types of water bottles, etc. It would have to be the right height and I'm no scientist but you'd even have to match the curvature of the bottle in order to focus it that tightly. Not that I'll be conducting any experiments, hahaha! Initially it seemed a little alarming until I thought about it for a minute.
