Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone had any idea if it was possible to import my SRT8 from the Gulf region (Qatar-specifically) into Canada or the USA. I figure it would be a good vehicle to hold onto, since it's only a 2007 with 20k miles, in a dry climate so zero rust, and kickass Gulf-spec Aircon and cooling) :)

I don't know how it works with the US and "foreign" vehicles, but essentially the truck was made in the USA, so I have trouble seeing why it would be any different than the US-spec model (other than the cranked up AC unit, no daytime running lights, and a fire extinguisher mounted under the passenger seat!). I know you can import vehicles from the USA to here, provided they are new enough (< 3yrs), but I have no idea about the other way around!

Any help is appreciated. I'm not planning on leaving Qatar for a while yet, but I'm curious to see what my options are!

Cheers,

Al.

Here's some information for importing a vehicle into Canada and what the requirements are - http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/pub/bsf5048-eng.html.

I imagine the US would have a similar requirement.

Wow, is that prompt service or what? :)

I found an interesting exception:

"Exceptions

You can import a vehicle into Canada on the condition that the vehicle is designed, manufactured, tested and certified to meet the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standards or the United States Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, bears a statement of compliance label affixed by the original manufacturer and has not been altered, and that the certification from the original manufacturer is still on the vehicle in any of the following situations..."

Can you tell me where the "statement of compliance label" is affixed of your vehicles? I gotta go check on my truck :)

Thanks!

Al.

I believe that's the Vehicle Emmisions Control Information sticker that's attached under the hood in the front.
