I have to ask, what made you fail the safety inspection? How many miles do you have on your truck. I just find it hard to believe they can fail you from your rotors being scored. Actually like most germany vehicles, the brakes are meant to wear with the pads.
saywhat 03-21-2007, 05:13 PM :D Brakeworld.com I have them on my srt and they are great! they ship out in like 2 days.

i failed it because of how low my brake pads were and i cant drive it bc i had the pads on back order a week before i got it inspected and the guys dont know much about after market performace hardware
saywhat 03-21-2007, 09:31 PM :D do some research the Discitalias are Extreme racing products like Brembo, but you will pay for the quality!

True, they are great and there are no other options at this time.

I just ordered some stuff from Brakeworld based on this thread. Ordered the Disc Italia's and Rotex gold pads for the front... only thing is they only had one set of Hawk HP Plus for the rear... I ordered an extra set of Hawk S's and Rotex just incase I can coax my wife into letting me go race again. Can't stand not driving my beast..... Right now the left front is metal to metal.

squigmang 04-01-2007, 07:39 PM drilled vs. drilled and slotted??
whats better or is there a big difference.
what about brake pad wear?
squeaking?
thanks

I don't believe drilled/drilled and slotted would make any pad wear or squealing difference. It's the pad compound that will determine those things.
As far as pure performance goes (like on a track), many people think slotted is the best choice. The slots allow the gasses to escape but you don't risk heat cracking that seems to happen to drilled rotors.

Mango 04-02-2007, 05:08 AM These are the DiscItalia rotors from www.brakeworld.com
**NOTE: These rotors ARE IN FACT FACTORY ROTORS that are media blasted, then CnC'd with holes/slots, then zinc coated. They have the exact same part #'s, even the Chrysler star stamped on them.

So are you saying that is a Good or Bad thing ??? Is it worth getting those Rotors because im about to order them.....
I've had mine on for about 10 months, and absolutely love them.
mike123 04-02-2007, 07:53 AM Brembo is coming out with a big brake kit soon but it is going to cost $4000 for front & rear rotors and calipers complete set
Mango 04-02-2007, 10:39 AM I am in no way saying that it is a BAD thing. The stock rotors are very strong. I was just pointing this out to people.
DiscItalia is simply doing custom work to our stockers. I think they are fantastic and were worth every penny.

Oh ok thanks for that info...im getting ready to order mine... have you had any squiling from the brakes at all?? and what brake pads do you recommend?

Hmm well let me tell you my story..... I sure hope BrakeWorld didn't rip me off... I went with Disc Italia's and Gold Rotex for the front. I got Hawk Plus for the backs. I didn't want to be down again due to brakes so I ordered an extra set of each... they didn't have two sets of Hawk Plus's so I ended up with a pair of Hawk HPS's for spares.
Now the disc's look awesome and the brakes are all installed. The only thing is the front pads came in a generic looking box (actually crummy looking box). At $155 per set... I expected a bit more something....
These brakes are extremely noisy. I haven't bedded them in properly yet but was advised by BrakeWorld to allow 200-250 miles of normal city usage to break in the front pads. I got a story about if bedding them improperly they might end up glazing. Grrrr... If that were to cause the brakes to glaze.. what good are they going to be for racing?? So anyway, I'm having to live with squeaky/high pitched howls to get through the normal break in time as advised by BrakeWorld.
Below is the pictures of the front pads... first what I recieved and what I was expecting....
It's probably just paranoia, but I can't help think these brakes don't feel as good as the factory pads. I just hope they hold up at the track. Now to find new tires so I can go racing again.

Great now i know ...thanks alot for the info...im going to look into the pads more before i make any decision... thanks again
JNK328 04-03-2007, 07:16 PM FYI
Just got a call from my dealer and he is replacing all 4 rotors & pads on my 07 GC SRT8. I dropped it off this morning for grooved rotors and an anoying squeal. I have the truck 3 weeks with 3400 miles. I also complained of a banging noise in the rear, cold weather related, bad shock. Two new ones being replaced tomorrow. So far Buhler in Hazlet NJ got my vote!!!
NitroCrzy 04-04-2007, 01:16 AM I managed to burn off the factory pads after two full days of racing. As it turns out the dealer here doesn't even have factory spares to replace all four corners. So a TSB is not helpful for me at this stage. I spent a lot of money upgrading my current setup and am hoping it lasts for more than a few races per set of pads ;)
So far I'm probably sour'd by my own expectations having spent $1200 just in shipping and then get incorrectly packaged? pads.
The track will tell. I can't wait to test the new setup at the track. Only problem now is I need to find tires........
