: SRT8 Replacement Tires in the Gulf
ironlord 10-01-2009, 07:58 AM Hi guys,
I'm in Qatar and I just had an unfortunate run-in with a curb, which tore into the sidewall of my right-rear tire.
I assume I can get replacement tires from the dealer here, but from my experiences of Qatar, they'll probably charge me a mint ("because they can").
Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can order some replacement tires that might save me a bit of cash?

oman srt8 10-01-2009, 08:11 AM whats the size is your tires??
you can find them in tires shops in qatar
you can ask for 275/40/R20 for front & 315/35/R20 for rear .. yokohama.hankook ,niito,toyo,michelin
hopr this will work
best of luck man ;)

ironlord 10-01-2009, 09:08 AM Well, I have to go check the tires again... but they are Nittos.
I assume they are (as Discount Tire suggests on their website):
285/40R-20.
Can you really go with 315/35R-20 on stock rims? Isn't the rubber just sprayed on at that point? ;)
So I guess by your suggestion, that is a much more common tire size (and thus, more competition = cheaper/more availability?)
Thanks!
Al.
oman srt8 10-01-2009, 03:31 PM am running the 315 in rear for two years with no problem (7mdllah)
it will cost you more if you order it from the net
if its niito i think it will be front 255 and rear 285
so better go and check tire shops in QATAR..
ironlord 10-02-2009, 01:16 AM Just to double check:
are your estimate prices (255-front/285-rear) in USD? QAR?
I saw DiscountTire.com selling Nitto rears for 185$/ea USD. Even with Aramex shipping, it would come out to be cheaper :)
(Nitto 420S 285/40/R20)
Granted, the Nitto NT05s look much more like slicks ;)

ironlord 10-02-2009, 04:47 AM Here's something interesting:
I just checked my tires this morning, and get this:
Both the front and the back are the SAME SIZE - 245/45/R20!
Seeing as all the online tire places say the fronts are different from the backs, I assume I should rectify that problem!
I forget how the width/sidewall/size affects your speedometer, etc... would I still be able to get larger tires for the back and it'll be okay, or will it make the car sit higher in the front/etc?
Thanks again for all your help!
Al.
DAZ213 11-15-2009, 03:22 PM your rims are 8" front and rear
you need 9" front and 10" rear
replica chrome wheels here :

overseas shipping is cheap
then buy 275/315 tires

You have the standard tyre sizes fitted to the European model 2007/8.
I'd like to replace mine too but not sure about £1500 for a set of pimpy chrome ones!:p They look CHEAP!
What are the fattest tyres you can fit on the standard rims?

Dr-Yaser 12-16-2009, 05:01 PM i have 2008 greand cherokee SRT8 and the front tires are different in size from the back .
front is 255/45/20
back 285/40/20
the problem is they are not available in Kuwait in one brand , what made things even worse , the back sizes are only available in 2 brands only ! goodyear and nitto !! that is all around the world !!
In kuwait ,, we dont have Nitto dealer , and our lovely goodyear dealer does not sell them at all !! he says " they are expensive and nobody using them so why we get them " funny ha ! its like we should not buy or drive SRT8 !!!!
if i get puncture tire or i wanted to replace my 4 sets of tires , what do i suppose to do in this situation !
im so disappointed about this , any solutions guys ?!
DAZ213 12-16-2009, 05:43 PM yeah since 08, export srt8s have a staggered set

marriott 08-13-2010, 02:44 PM Al,

ironlord 08-13-2010, 08:37 PM Which tires are you looking at?
I ended up going with tires that were a little less 'streety' and a little higher profile - they work pretty well on Doha roads, since you never know what you'll run across :)
As my SRT came with Nittos when I bought it, and I never saw Nittos for sale in Qatar at all, I still have 3 sitting around in my garage :) If I could find another matching Nitto or two, I'd consider buying them!

sstdusty 08-14-2010, 04:51 AM good tire shops in the UAE, they can get any tire you need
marriott 08-14-2010, 05:17 AM i've been thinking that and a road trip to the UAE could be good! Do you have any recommendations??
Cheers
