ive got a 2000 durango and am going to be swapping the 6.1 l into it in the fall, i want to run the 5 speed trans and tcase from the srt8 jeep. what side is the front diff on the the jeep? also what is the model number of the tcase used. i basically want to swap the srt8 jeep drivetrain into my pokey durango.

i did try my local chrysler dealer but they are kind of small and not much help, one of the parts guys said to come back when im ready cause he wants to help as much as he can.

Where do you plan on getting the drivetrain from? How do you plan on adapting the computer to your wiring harness? If you have the money to attack a project like this, why not just buy an SRT-8 to begin with?

T-case model number 146, p/n 5037747AA, diff is on the left.

mopar super center (a vendor here in case you havent read an of there threads) have the 6.1l crate motors for around 6-7 grand shipped to my home, the computer and harness for a few more hundred bucks, the trans i can more then likely get from the stealer ship (or build mine to handle the power since it will bolt up to the 6.1l, just wont last long and i want 5 gears instead of 4) along with the tcase or just mod mine to work. all for around 10ish thousand dollars. alot less money and more unique then just buying a jeep srt8. who knows, in the time before i start the project a few people might wreck theres (i hope not but you never know) and i can get everything cheaper.

edit- awesome thanks for the info, that means itll work as far what side the durangos diff is on, crossmembers are easy.
