In all fairness that can happen to any one of us.

I don't have any problems... I have yet to hear of a Jeep SRT8 related problem (other than the 'Rolled SRT8' thread) that can match the sapfu nature of that tranny.

Give it time, I"m sure there'll be something catastrophic that someone suffers. And that's no statement of Jeep's build quality, just a fact of life with inconsistent build quality.

I agree with that, it's just a fubar looking tranny; I'd like to think something like that is rarer than it is common!

All makes of cars can end up with an extreme problem at some point. My old man's Northstar blew up one morning when he started it, and those engines generally have a good reputation from what I understand. :)

Edit: Fixed typos.

That's rare for any vehicle of any make.

there is a guy here in berea, ky that has an SS and the exact same thing happened. He has the tranny in his storage shed. He was bone stock and wife driven.(I told hiim that was the problem) They are having problems with trannies in the SS.

WOW! That really could happen to anyone. It's amazing how complicated modern vehicles are, and it still works!

That hurts. What's worse is he say's he was stock. Too bad they put a weak tranny behind that nice engine.

Once we start getting around the approx 600 hp rating of our drivetrains, we could be seeing something similar. Just my opinion, but I think the T-case will be 1st.

Although, now that I think of it, didn't they blow the torque converter on that JH moneypit?

Yep, I think i will be the first to try a stock TC with the 600Hp. I have a bad reputation with transmissions:eek:

My first thought was like a TH400 ripping out the clutch pack locking lugs. I've seen it on that tranny before. Sorry for the guy having to suffer through all this on a stock vehicle. I've had no problems on my 06 JGC SRT8 and have not babied it at all. Mine is so nice and smooth on the highway and all the stock features that most are only found on mid to high price vehicles. What has made DC so great has been D and all its engineering. The 6.1 Hemi Engine is just as great as any LS2 one plus has some features even that engine lacks. Gene

Every time a trailblazer floors it, one SS loses a tranny. Thats the sad joke...

Theres a guy on SVTP that has one and has gone through 5 transmissions already....that says something...

I have a Trans Am, so it was logical for me to get a TBSS when I was looking to replace my pickup truck. I love the LSx engines, plus I have experience swapping cams, changing heads, tuning etc., but the tranny issues led me to the GCSRT8.

I feel for the guys having to worry about their trannies all the time. They deserve better than that. It's too bad because the TBSS is a cool-ass truck in every other way. I even have a friend at the gym who would sell me one for practically dealer cost. I really wanted a TBSS, and I wanted it to be the truck I thought it was.

Of course I love the GCSRT8, but it's also about 10gs more scratch, plus very little in the way of discounts. I know I'll be happy and never look back, but I feel for my LSx brothers. Maybe GM will make it all right, but I doubt it. Sorry fellas, sincerely.

Doesn't look distinctive enough for me. And if I thought DCX interiors were cheese....

Anyway, they are an impressive vehicle in their own right, glad we all have choices.

No doubt the GCSRT8 is WAY better looking, but there's something to say for the sleeper look too. And that's what muscle cars were always all about: take a plain-jane people mover and put a killer engine in it.

The GCSRT8 is flashy and in your face; the TBSS is cool and laid back. I loved 'em both, except for GM dropping the ball with the TBSS.

I think the issues here are nothing compared to that, and don't you own one, Oh that's right you don't! I have no problems and think that this a great SUV with very good build quality and would recommend it highly to anyone.
