There is torque steer under full throttle, but I don't believe it tracks that bad for something with performance tires.

ANY vehicle with tires as wide as ours is going to track ruts in the road. It's a matter of physics. Add our vehicles weight into the equation and bang....

It's funny, I test drove a beautiful black SRT this weekend and noticed exactly what they mentioned in the article. I was on an otherwise smooth road and felt a little "wandering". For some reason it just didn't feel as tight and planted as I thought it would. I actually started to weave back and forth a bit just to see if the suspension felt loose - it did not at all.

I read in the other thread on this topic that someone thought it was the run flat tires. It felt like it could be that to me, or maybe low tire pressure, but I assume that would have set off the monitoring system.

I don't know if this would get annoying over time, but I did notice it....and I test drove it before I read the Autoweek article, so I this wasn't something I had in my mind going in.

Still hoping to be an SRT owner inthe near future...

I notice it but doesn't bother me.....had a Viper GTS and STi.

Both of them wandered.

My Mustang weighs 2000lbs less than the GC and tracks much worse with 295s in the back and 265s up front.

Exactly my experience...performance tires+stiffer suspension=more direct road feel and responsive (to the road and steering input) driving experience....a good thing (not bad). More true with C6 vettes, Gen 3 Vipers, etc.

I bought the jeep because its f**king bad ass. I am willing to overlook some of the negative qualities because everytime I get into the drivers seat, I feel alive. I wish more modern American cars had that feeling.

I had an STi too and that thing couldn't hold a line if it were attached to a rail. At least with the stock tires. The Jeep loses composure over expansion joints on the freeway while in a turn, but that's about the only time I thought to myself "hmm maybe I shouldn't be going this fast." I attribute that not only to the size of tires (and the weight sitting on top) but, as previously mentioned in other threads, the fact that it has run-flat tires. I don't think I've ever heard a single GOOD thing about RFTs while talking about handling. Except of course, preventing an accident from a tire puncture.

My last car was an M5 and had no spare but used what was called an "M Mobility Kit" which was basically a big can of fix-a-flat. I'd like to see the difference in handling using non-run-flats. I bet it'd hold the line a bit better.

Yup, I agree the run flats are big part of the issue. My oldman has a 550i with the sport package, has the stupid run flats. Has an extremely rough ride and tramlines to an extent on broken pavement.

Torque steer? Yes, under full throttle. No HW wandering with mine. Some have complained about driving on snow but most haven't read the Owner's Manual. A very sure footed vehicle in my book. I love mine. Gene
