: 6.1 vs '04 vette
Hey guys. A buddy took this short video with me and an '04 vette. Later I found out that the vette was a stock 6 spd. The vette guy said he tripped traction control on his 1-2 shift and then gave up!:D I have had 2 vettes in the past and an '04 6 spd should run to about 45-50 in first. This race was over before 50 imo! My truck was modded as listed below, so I expected to jump him pretty well. Not really "showing off" here, but thought this 7 second clip was worth a post. The 3200 stall helps the Jeep rip off the line!
Temps that night were around 30 degrees f; prime awd temps!

I offered to run him again, but he wanted no part. In his defense, we were standing out like sore thumbs! Oh btw - my wife was riding shotgun and he was solo. (for the record ;) )
Inferno SRT8 03-18-2007, 07:37 PM Oh that vette got SPANKED!!!!! NICE!
I give Z06's runs for there money an 04 is easy.
I seriously believe it! They have to play catch-up all the time! I cannot wait for the '07 BG flash. I need the 6800 redline. With my 3200, I'm banging the limiter in 1st and 2nd; even in autostick!

Maybe for 100 ft.
Maybe for 100 ft.
Lol...notice I didn't mention any highway racing! (although I was willing if it came up). We have the 1/4 milers; plain and simple.
BDNJ...nice kill. Got any times yet?
FFSP: Nothing yet. I need the BG Stg II flash first; with the higher 6800 redline and remapped shifting. I bang into redline on 1-2 and 2-3 shifts; regardless of autostick or D. And a limited slip wouldn't hurt either.
My shop figures low 12's to possible high 11's on a good air day. (I pray these are accurate) It won't be long; hopefully within a month. My 60' has got to be around that 1.6 area, even with stock hockey pucks! lol.

No actually in the 1/4 mile.

With a vehicle that runs 12.5's, I don't think so, unless a dimwit is driving the Z06 it is going to run high 11's all day.

I can only speak for my driving not others, if a Z06 owner can't drive his car, oh well. And a race loss due to driver error is still a win is it not?

It has got to be a handful driving a AWD with a auto., you talk like you can run with a Z06, staying 5 carlengths behind through a 1/4 is not running with a Z06, and if you hit the freeway its gonna really get ugly.
tommy25000 03-19-2007, 10:24 PM everyone calm down. yes a z06 is the probably one of the fastest stock cars you will ever run... driver error or not anyone would get a **** eating grin if they pulled him... even if it was only to 60. i would like to say though anything running higher than a 12 flat meets a z06 with a good driver it would be a mess. i got to drive one... only thing i can tell you is the first time you rip one wear a diaper. :D
also with head cam and kooks you have an amaaaaaaazing suv. i will also pray for your 11's!!!!!!!!
FastSRT8GC 03-19-2007, 10:38 PM Trying to get the best 1/4 times in any vehicle is a hand full. Especially in something like the jeep that is over controlled by the computer.
I would be more than happy to take on a older Z06 at Sebring international raceway. I am sure with an equal driver and some good stickies the vette would have a hard time in the turns.
Example... Not the photo below but a good idea, In the turns I was alway up the RACE porches rears in the turns, in fact if we were allowed to pass in the turns i would have. But in the straights they pulled away, In two turn I was back on their tail. So its not always the car... More like Driver and Setup.

tommy25000 03-20-2007, 12:19 AM i disagree. a skid pad and a race track are wayyyy different. if you both had stickies you would prob be hurting... imo
tommy25000 03-20-2007, 12:20 AM when did asm come out with a blower for these trucks?????
also with head cam and kooks you have an amaaaaaaazing suv. i will also pray for your 11's!!!!!!!!
Tommy,
Don't forget the 3200 stall converter! Gotta give me a couple tenths on that alone! lol.

The New vette has a 1.01g in the skid pad. I am sure the older vette is in the low .9 That is on scale with the Jeep's .90g With equal drivers I am sure the Jeep will hold its own. Wait till the suspension kits come out. We need about 1 1/2 inch in the front and 2 in the rear. Bigger Sway bars and some stickies we will be above 1g.
ASM just released their SC kit. It's not even on their site yet. Its about four weeks out from shipping.
StageFright 03-20-2007, 12:57 PM I actually respect what Inferno has done with his Jeep as a fellow modder, but I don't respect when people use other cars as a reference point when 1/4 mile ET's or top speed numbers speak volumes.
Inferno SRT8 03-20-2007, 01:05 PM Im not using the Z06 as any reference point. There is truly NO comparison between an SRT8 and the Z06, 2 different animals all together.

I believe you mis understood. yes our turcks pull great #'s on a skid pad but between braking and bouncing from one sharp turn to another a z06 is in another league. its stability and balance

Hey guys, new member here. I have a 94 Grand Cherokee, 2006 Charger RT R&TPG, and a 2002 Corvette Z06. I am the original owner of all three cars. I plan to factory order a 2008 SRT-8 Jeep, I am waiting for MyGig.
My 2002 C5 Z06 is factory stock and it runs 12.0s @ 117-118 MPH on a 1.9 60' time.

Nope I understood you. Being a SCCA STS racer(past) and running track days like the one pictured I understand the skidpad. The skidpad is real world, meaning that on a REAL track you will have transitions but not crazy sharp turns like in an autocross event. The Jeep will suck in an autocross environment for the reasons you explain. The Jeep has a lot of understeer that is easily corrected with the AWD on a larger track. On a smaller tighter autocross track you will not have the room to get back on it so easily.(depending on the track design)
Like i said I will be going to Sebring in the near future and I can try to compare it to a G monster like my MINI and the other vehicles that are out there.
This is the only way to tell, otherwise we are all just blowin smoke!!
StageFright 03-20-2007, 10:57 PM I don't know where all the skid pad talk started, we are talking about straightline performance.

Yea I think i added this to the mix. Oh well To late now;)
