Has anyone experienced a delay in the trans slipping into gear when dropped into drive? I find my '07 takes a good 3 - 4 secs sometimes and even slips and grinds into gear as I try to ease onto it. I've even had it stick in second and not up-shift once under heave load. It red-lined and cut-off. Any feedback would be appreciated.

do you mean when you go wot and when it shifts at redline it makes this horrible scraping noise like sandpaper rubbing ?

No. Two separate things. When first shifting into gear from park it will often slip and grind into gear like it's low on trans fluid (but the fluid is fine). One time I had it wot on an on ramp when I was in second on automatic and it wouldn't shift into third until it cut off. I'm just wondering if there's debris in the trans somewhere reaking havock or some other kind of problem.

I personally have only experienced one shift hessitaion while at the track when it was shiffting from 2-3. The "slipping" and "grinding" into gears does not sound good might want to get that checked out.

I've been and as usual they say "we don't hear anything, it doesn't seem to do it for us!!"
Guess a little persistance is required.
Thanks!

How were you able to verify tranny fluid level?

The fluid level is good. I check it regularly.
Don't think I'm going to worry much about it. Just placed an order for an '08 today and will be getting rid of this one as soon it comes in.

How do you check it? There isn't a dipstick. Only dealers have the special tools to check it. It even says that on the cap of the tube.

I think I heard that the 06's had dipsticks.

I just checked and there is no dipstick on the 06's either, unless he has the miller special tool dipstick that the dealers use.

Maybe they did the delete during the 06 MY since I seem to remember some saying theirs came with one.

You can't do it yourself. Mine is an 07 and it doesn't have a dip stick. I took it into the dealer and ask them to check it. It's due for another lube job and I'm going to insist that they check it again.

No dipstick in 06. I had mine in to the dealer and they checked mine. It isn't a simple process for them either. MIne was actually low and had stored a code. I guess it came from the factory low, since i only have 5,000 miles and never a leak in the garage.

Insisted this time that they check the fluid level. They toled me it was low. Makes me wonder if they checked it last time.
Still didn't get rid of the slip into gear.

3 - 5 seconds?

Put it in Drive... One thousand one, one thousand two, one thousand three, one thousand four, one thousand five... Engages in Drive?

Run, don't walk to the stealership. That's a warranty issue, IMO.

Between one thousand three and one thousand four. I want to take it in for the first service anyway so I'll make sure they check it out.
Thanks

I noticed a slipping sensation on mine lately when backing out of the driveway. Once I back out and put my foot on the brake it seems to slip when I put it in drive...actually might happen before I put it in drive.

It also feels like one of the rear wheels are locking up when going from reverse to drive. I have an appointment at the dealer Tuesday. We shall see what they find. Also want them to check for updates. Anything on the "AH" update???

I've had no luck at the dealer. You guys let me know if the trany tech at your dealer is a little more on the ball.

I have had this problem. Oh yea, this is my first post to this forum. I am new here. Love the Jeep SRT8. When shifting out of reverse into drive. I get the grinding and hesitation until it slips into gear. It scares me, but I trust the engineering on it.

if you are still under warranty i would give it hell let her blow. i used to be a service writer and when people would come to me with simular problems that we could not duplicate i would tell them to hammer on it hen it was acting up. get it to blow up so it gets taken care of. there are ways to do this in a "controlled manner" if you will. if you hold down th brake and give it gas it will heat up and then go beat on it. N drop it!

Ah great advice to N drop it. That will do it every time..
