: SRT8 GC vs C6 Z06
El Jefe 03-15-2007, 11:23 AM Ban me if this is a repost. Couldnt make out the times but that 60' was killer. C6 needs a driver mod bad....Vette ran a best of 11.7 that day. Probably puts the Jeep in the 12's?

HoustonSRT-8 03-15-2007, 12:46 PM From what I could make out, it looked like a 12.8 for the Jeep.
Inferno SRT8 03-18-2007, 07:12 AM Holy **** thats me!!!!
And im not kidding, I ran 12.5 and that Z06 ran 11.9 he caught me at the 1/8th mile marker and blew by me like I was standing still, but he wasnt smirking when I met him in the parking lot anymore.
FastSRT8GC 03-18-2007, 08:20 AM Inferno you have some really good times with your mods. I can not wait to see what a FLA modified Jeep will do. Good temps, low altitude. Should make for a good run.
kramsay1234 03-18-2007, 10:16 AM Inferno - thats awesome! Maybe the new flames are getting even more appropriate for the performance. You made him look silly off the line and pulled great all the way down.
Imagine how fast you would be if you had all those mods on a black one...

If I do the cam and heads w/ a NOS 75 shot he loses that race. :D
El Jefe 03-18-2007, 03:35 PM Very nice man! That Z06 should of been in the low 11's or high 10's with a good driver. He was getting 2.6 60's I think I read. Should be a 1.6 or 1.7 if not better
But still very nice. Youd woop my butt

The guy was having traction issues but a killer race never the less.
Just to be able to hang with a vette is good enough for me with what little mods I have done so far. The vette is worked big time, headers, cam tune etc.
StageFright 03-18-2007, 09:58 PM I've never seen people so happy to lose a race.

Jeep vs. Z06, 2 years ago if I told you I could put 3 to 4 cars on a vette in a Jeep you would have put me in the looney bin. :D
And I didnt lose by much

Damn right. Jeep vs. Z06. Wonder what the people in the stands were saying when they lined up. Then when they saw the Jeep jump ahead off the line.:p It's amazing an SUV running like these do. Can't wait for the aftermarket to catchup. Hell yeah!!!:D

C'mon man, I've seen 11 second GMC Typhoons and Syclones back in 1992, so don't think the Jeep SRT is breaking new ground here, and if you told me that the Jeep had 425 HP w/AWD of course I would believe you could holeshot a more powerful RWD car w/o traction.
But after the holeshot your azz is grass, I like the Jeep SRT like everyone else here but let's keep it real.

While modded up the ass no stock typhoon is spanking any SRT8 stock, stock that fugly pos gets spanked badly.

If you think that simply turning up the boost and fuel pressure is as you say "modded up the azz", OK.
My friends Typhoon ran 11.80's all day and that was 15 years ago.
LOL, 15 years from now people will probably be calling the 2006 Jeep SRT fugly too.

He had the option of turning up BOOST, we dont, ide say that is a pretty big option to have. we cant even get a tune for our SRT8's.

rossb 03-21-2007, 08:43 AM I personally witnessed two different factory stock C6 Z06 cars go 11.24 @ 125 MPH at a track rental we had at Atco in the fall. Both cars were driven by experienced drag racers who also turned fantastic times in C5 Z06 cars. I also participated in the rental and I was going 12.0s @ 117 in my stock C5 Z06. This track day was well documented on the Corvette forum.
Inferno SRT8 03-21-2007, 09:02 AM No one here is doubting how great Z06's are, but why do vette owners get there panties in a bunch when someone says hey I gave the vette a good run, where it be for 100', 1/8th or the 1/4 mile.
rossb 03-21-2007, 09:58 AM My "panties" are certainly not in a bunch. I am just adding some useful info to the thread. An SRT owner would probably do the same if someone posted that they just waxed an SRT Jeep in their 5.7L Jeep/Charger/300/Magnum. On any given day a slower car can take out a faster car.

I was not referring to you exactly, and noone here ever said they waxed anyone. And I agree on any given day you never know what will happen.
Personally Im happy I wasnt waxed! :D

Signing up on a forum just to defend your beloved [insert vehicle here] does indicate "panties in a wad". Anyone who does that really must have nothing better to do.

Actually, I signed up because I am ordering a 2008 Jeep SRT-8. I have been reading this site for months.

Hmmm, this looks like a PUBLIC forum to me.

I wasn't singling you out, but rather making a broad statement, hence the [insert vehicle here] instead of "Vette". Quoting you was an accident.
