I'm having trouble with the rear passenger side belt locking in place and not retracting. Sometimes when I unbelt my son from his carseat, the belt locks and wont retract. The first time I messed with it for over an hour and called the dealer with no extra advice. I finally took the panel off and manually pushed on the retractor, and it retracted.

It happened to my wife the other day, and she had to move my son to the middle position. She said that belt automatically retracted on its own when she started the car up the next time. I thought maybe the computer automatically retracted it as some sort of safety feature, but now it happened again. After a few start ups, nothing. Still locked.

Anyone have any advice or similar problem? On all my other cars, you could just gently tug on the belt and it would retract back. This one is different. There is no play in the retractor when you tug on it. This bothers me, and I dont think I belt my kids in that position again if I get it to retract.

bring it back to the dealer make them replace the whole thing any safety issues they have no choice in the matter

That's my plan. We all know how much fun trips to the dealer are.
