I know the vehicle is rev limited to 155mph, I am curious if anyone knows what the vehicle can actually do if it was not rev limited.

I thought I read somewhere it was 170, but that seems pretty fast. I've never driven an srt8 though, so I shouldn't be judging their power.

Actually I think it is drag limited, not governed. I've had mine up to 160. :eek:

The Jeeps are drag limited at those speeds. You may have noticed that the Jeep in no way even remotely resembles the shape of a Viper or Corvette. It's more like a shoe box. Aerodynamics really start making a difference at high speeds. Some engineer type figured out with the Rams that it would take several hundreds more hp just to pick up another 20 mph of top speed all due to aerodynamics.

ResumeSpeed states 168, where did you see that? There has been alot of people speculating, I am just trying to find out in writing where it is stated. I did read the 300 and magnum does 170, but can not find anything on Jeep except for 155.

I've hit 160 a few times with some room left with the rev.

Surprisingly, nobody posted up a gear ratio/speed calculator diagram.
See below for what the factory gearing/tires diameter will allow:

4th_____143.4
5th_____172.8
RPM in top gear at 70 mph: 2512

This means that the Jeep SRT8 is gear/tire diameter limited to 172.8mph@6200rpms in 5th gear, however, the drag resistance/limit and possibly the computers electronic limiting will alter this top speed. I would say 155-160mph should be possible.

If you don't see it on a GPS, it's speculation. Speedometers are close but not 100 % accurate.

I have had my jeep indicate 165 MPH was solid at that speed tro beleive it or not.
