Ok so my 06' has about 27K on it and i just started getting squealing from my front brakes. I was wondering what pads you guys suggest and for you DIY'ers how difficult is it to do the fronts. I have changed brakes on many other vehicles before but I have not tackled the Brembo setup. Is it the same as a regular brake job or is there anything I should know. Please let me know because I want to get the pads asap. Thanks in advance

Alot of people go with the stock pads even though they produce a lot of brake dust. I personally just boought a pair of Ceramic pads made by Hawk, which are suppose to be low dust. So according to reviews I will be sacrificing a little on the braking but will have low dust on the fronts. For the rear I am installing the 2006 Akebaneco Cadallic CTS -V pads, which I heard will eliminate the bad squeek that everyone has on there Jeep. So its entirely up to you man.

I put hawk ceramic pads on my 2007. It did not eliminate the squeal, however it cut way down on the squeal, not to mention not having to wash my rims very 3 days. instead of squealing all the time, they just squal occasionally though. just a bandaide to poor engineering.

The Akebono Euro Ceramic pads that are listed for the 06 CTS-V for the rear do not squeal. No noise in the 2500 miles that I've had them on :D

10k miles on my Akebono Euro Ceramic's on the rear brakes, with no noise or dust. Using EBC "SUV" pads for the fronts. No noise, no dust, but firmer brake pedal than stock pads, but still with good grip (I switched from Posi-Quiet's that were also low dust and quiet, but had really ****ty grip. I tow a boat, so I really needed the brakes to work well!).

I also have the same Akebono Euro Ceramic on my BMW M3 (front and back) for the past 8k miles. They have stock grip (non-track use), no dust, and no noise as well.

Yeah and I dont know if it is because I just did them about 100 miles or so ago, but the rears sound like nails on a chalkboard. I read the warnings that came with the pads basically saying they will squeal and it is not a defect but they sound terrible. If the squeal doesn't go away I am going back to stock. Has anyone had the same issue with these pads and has the squeal gone away?

My TireRack invoice lists "EUR 592"
I just went to the TireRack site and searched for a 2006 Cadillac CTS-V and bought the rear pads.

My dealer just told me that I need new rear brakes on my 06 (and yes, they've been squealing for months now). I want to get the Akebono's, but I have no experience with changing brakes. I have a couple of questions.

1. Should I just buy the rears for now and leave the front brakes alone? Or should I just swap out all 4?
2. Do I only need to get new pads? Or do I need to get new rotors as well? (The dealer quoted me $590 for the rear brakes and mentioned something about "machining the rotors")
3. What are people's thoughts on the Red Brembo caliper look? Can these be purchased and used with the Akebonos?
4. Once I get everything I need online, should I take it to the dealer to do the labor? (I don't know of any local mechanics) Will they install non Mopar items? If not, should I take it to PepBoys or some chain tire place?

I really appreciate your help in advance.

Hmmm, after searching, looks like the Red Brembos are hard to come by..
