: Transmission temperature gage sender

Just sold my 2001 Lightning and bought a 2007 Black JGCSRT8 and I have to say this is one of the most unbelievable vehicles I have ever driven - much nicer interior than the old truck and at least as fast 0-60.

Coming from the Lighting world, I liked to monitor my trans temp as the Ford 4R100 has restrictions on torque converter lockup if the trans temp is below 125 degrees. Also, temps over 200 degrees, consistently, would shorten the life of the transmission and torque converter. I used to run an aux cooler (plate type) in series with factory cooler and kept temps no higher than 165 degrees even in summer. Ford had a very good site to place an autometer mechanical temp gage sender (included w/gage) in the top front of trans - just unscrew the plug and screw in the sender (w/o teflon tape !). simple installation.

My question is does anyone know if a MECHANICAL trans temp gage can or has been installed in this transmission in the Jeep ? If so, where did you tap in ? I do NOT plan on tapping into the trans case if there is not one; i may just go with some of the new super gages that use the OBD2 port to allow multiple display parameters, like trans temp, torque converter lockup etc. however, i always liked mechanical temp gages.

anyone done this before ?

thanks
Dave

Why not look at a dashhawk, and have even more info available to you. Several members here seem to be happy with them.
