: Oil Change Light Indicator-Problem?

I got my oil changed about 1000 miles ago. It was the first oil change. Bought my own Mobil 1 oil and filter and had it changed at NTB. I watched them from outside of the service area put the new oil in the car. It looked like an honest job.

The "oil change needed" message just came on and keeps coming on every time I turn on the car. The oil is light brown and looks clean on the dipstick. Why is the light coming on? Does it need to be reset? What triggers the light to come on? Did the NTB guy do something wrong (even though I watched him peripherally do the job)?

Thanks!

It was never reset. Turn the ignition to ON, but don't start the car. Press the pedal to the floor and back up 3 times. You'll get a DIC message for Oil Change Reset. Press the pedal to the floor again to confirm. Turn the key off.

I think it's for 2008+ only.

This might be a dumb question but how many miles from reset before the "Change Oil" light comes on?

There is no set mileage. Its calculated by the trucks ECU based on your driving.
