: possible new exhaust soon
Thumpn 03-12-2007, 09:29 AM This WED my srt goes in as a guinne pig to flowmaster for a cat back system. I have a buddy that works at the Flowmaster R&D and he has got three differant cat backs that they have come up with for gcsrt8. the plan is to try each system with a dyno run to see which gets the best overall performance. I can't wait!!!!!!
Flowmaster has some badass srt's at their R&D like the viper, truck ,magnum, charger and a proto type callenger, which is out of this world beautiful! But no gc's so mine will be the first.
kramsay1234 03-12-2007, 09:31 AM Excellent! Free exhaust for you!

HoustonSRT-8 03-12-2007, 10:51 AM Awesome. I'd love to have a connection like that.
JDR07 03-12-2007, 11:09 AM I bet it will sound the best of all the catbacks out there
i have a flowmaster muffler on my 5.9 and it sounds beastly and has held up pretty well
id imagine their kit will be the cheapest option as well
Thumpn 03-13-2007, 12:18 AM Flowmaster is estimating a price point somewhere between $500 to $700.
AlexT 03-13-2007, 11:47 AM I'm real curious to hear what this sounds like.
Some of the flowmasters I've heard before just weren't "tuned" enough for my taste. But it's all a matter of taste, and I may have just heard some cheap installs on some trucks.

maxxjeep 03-13-2007, 04:25 PM had a flowmaster full catback on a 3.7 liberty....made it sound perrty.
i'd say it assisted with some performance too...mmm I'm excited.
squigmang 03-13-2007, 04:56 PM do you guys think the upcoming Borla will be the most expensive?
JTSRT 03-13-2007, 06:11 PM I'm a fan of flowmaster myself, had them on ALL of my cars but I have to say it depends on the engine. I think flowmasters are mean on a mustang. On a WS-6, not as tough sounding, totally a borla engine - of course with the cutout it didn't matter. Opinions vary, but I am definitely excited to see how it sounds. Makes me wonder if they magnaflow were worth the time and money.
Thumpn 03-20-2007, 12:11 AM well after much testing of differant systems the change that gave the most HP and sound increase with my SRT was a very simple setup, It involved just removing the stock muffler and replacing it with 2 Hushpower 2 mufflers making it a true dual exhaust and leaving the stock resonators and tips, It showed an increase on the dyno of 21 HP at the wheels. which is dam good they couldn't get more than 17 hp increase with the SRT Charger or Magnum.
zacincceo 03-20-2007, 12:52 AM lol..... interesting

**in my best Ace Ventura voice** REEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHHHLLLYYY.....
Any chance of the before and after dyno graphs?? TIA.
Thumpn 03-20-2007, 07:49 AM I am going to get copies of the dyno graphs next month my friend says they are using them for research and comparison to the other SRT models.
kramsay1234 03-20-2007, 08:56 AM If you can get 21 HP just by changing the mufflers, you have to ask yourself why DCX would have chosen the mufflers they did. There can't be that much of a sound/flow tradeoff. Maybe its to keep the aftermarket cos in biz. Bit of collusion.
mike123 03-20-2007, 09:16 AM I had a local muffler shop make me up a single flowmaster dual in and out system 2 3" tailpipes and the system was way to loud you couldn't hear yourself think

Thats not good. I am a big thinker... Actually U-Connect phone would be an issue for me if it was as loud as you are saying.
JDR07 04-23-2007, 08:56 PM well after much testing of differant systems the change that gave the most HP and sound increase with my SRT was a very simple setup, It involved just removing the stock muffler and replacing it with 2 Hushpower 2 mufflers making it a true dual exhaust and leaving the stock resonators and tips, It showed an increase on the dyno of 21 HP at the wheels. which is dam good they couldn't get more than 17 hp increase with the SRT Charger or Magnum.
but dont the hushpower mufflers only have a 2.5" inlet/outlet? our stock pipes are 2.75 i believe, does it matter if there is a difference?
generalconfusion 04-23-2007, 09:18 PM I find it VERY hard to believe or to find anyone that would believe 21hp:rolleyes: by replacing the front muffler. I replaced mine with a Magnaflow 3"x3" out duals with built in X Pipe and saw like 7hp after 3 hard pulls.
I came up with and built the exhaust seen below and made like 3-5hp leaving the stock resonators. True X Pipe and dual bazzani race cores....Somebody pulled your leg my friend.

mrfreeze 04-26-2007, 10:09 AM 21 hp to the wheels by just replacing the stock mufflers..tell me that wouldn't put alot of people out of the exhaust bussiness...
