: The time has come. Farewell my friends
my02grand 08-19-2009, 03:23 PM Well, I just sold my 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. I am both happy and sad. It still has not hit me yet, but i think within time i'll be okay. I just want to thank everyone on this forum who has answered numerous idiotic questions i had, useful information, and great memories. Although, i only made it to one meet, i can assure you another SRT will be added to the stable in the near future, however this time 10 cylinders. I had nothing but great times and plenty of smiles, and "WTF kind of car is that" with this Jeep. I wish you all the best. Happy Jeepin guys!
Crookster777 08-19-2009, 03:27 PM Well that sucks you sold it but what did you get to replace it?
KingOfTheRoad09 08-19-2009, 03:33 PM ur jeep is clean we are goin to miss u bro. keep in touch. is the viper srt10 next?
Grip Grip 08-19-2009, 03:55 PM I hate to see another '06 owner and longtime member leave. What did you replace the Jeep with?
hawkman996 08-19-2009, 04:30 PM Another member gone. :( Sorry to see you leave the jeep but stick around.
What is the new ride in the stable then?
BlackJeepSRT 08-19-2009, 04:58 PM I'm guessing Viper too.
Chris Hull@TTC 08-19-2009, 05:05 PM Good luck!! I dont like change!!
LonghornSpencer 08-19-2009, 05:08 PM Stick around bro...keep us all updated on the ride
Vinnysrt8 08-19-2009, 05:08 PM wow that sucks another person left im thinking the viper truck
SoonToBeSRT 08-19-2009, 05:39 PM Ram SRT10? I like it, but the Viper is much nicer, go with that ;) SRT FTW!
BlackJeepSRT 08-19-2009, 06:00 PM The Ram is actually slower or about the same. I think it's the gears.
Jpeyatt 08-19-2009, 06:05 PM Guys, Nick is gonna be getting the Viper(not the truck) when he's done with school... Keep in touch bro, I might come to PA this weekend to go shopping.. Ill let you know Friday bro.
SoonToBeSRT 08-19-2009, 06:09 PM Yes, the Ram is certainly slower than the Jeep to 100 or so. After that though, they are geared and powered to pull on us, I think the run about the same 1/4 as us stock vs. stock. The reg cab has a T56 6 speed tranny w/ taller gears than the Jeep.
The quad cab has a 48RE 4 speed auto w/ the same gearing but uses the heavy duty trans form other rams. They do provide a ton more torque and hp than the Jeep but that gearing really isnt setup to pull like the 373's we have outback. THAT is certainly the reason. Weight/Aerodynamics aren't much different than us, not to affect noticeably imo at least. So yes, gearing robs them down low, helps them back out up top ;)
So Nick, glad you are getting the VIPER, otherwise, you were DOWNGRADING ;) I'll be contacting you soon about that stereo instal coming up. Im looking for a nice amp as we speak . . .
TonySRT8 08-19-2009, 06:13 PM Sad to see you go. What made you sell it. Wasn't you just on the list to get a medic hood?
Tony
my02grand 08-19-2009, 06:23 PM Tony, yes i was. I have some kind of disorder where i get bored with stuff extremely fast. I am 22 years old and already owned what was considered at the time, my dream ride. I've had it, modded it and now it's time to move on. I go through vehicles about every 1-2 years. I am super fortunate to have been able to own such a beast at such a young age, and i am thankful for that. ( never once, would i hold my head above anyones.) I for one, actually had to work extremely hard to get one. ( i was the member who had to persuade my parents into letting me get one). My main reason for the sale was, 1. school i want to finish my last year and focus for once, and 2. I was getting sick of storing it, and 3. there was no SCer kit that really caught my eye.
my02grand 08-19-2009, 06:25 PM Actually, ( dont laugh) i am driving my 2000 Grand Cherokee Laredo with 28k miles. This will be my daily commuter until i graduate from PITT in the spring. Then from there i will decide what i want to do. I am between a dodge viper mamba edition, or using this money on a down payment for my first home.... decisions, decisions...

Don't be ashamed of your reg Grand cherokee lol, gotta rep for the regulars on here, lol the spirit will never die! But damn bro lol, your doing fine for where you're at. I keep trying to make these oldies (mostly blackjeep ;) understand even with a plain old WK or an SRT in your case in college w/ DEBT OUT THE ARSE WITH AN SRT, we are doing well above average lol. Some of my friends cant even afford a car to boot.
So what line of work exactly are you in to have what you have lol, I need to figure out how to get in position to get myself a Viper upon graduation lol, at least the Jeep sooner than later. Im currently stuck in a little rut, Share the wealth cuz ;)
SRT-MANA 08-19-2009, 06:41 PM Aloha from Hawaii bro! good luck..
Vinnysrt8 08-19-2009, 06:54 PM Gl hope u get the viper soone
my02grand 08-19-2009, 06:55 PM I have been a hustler (legal) since i was 13 years old no lie. I did my chores, got paid, and had a slight allowance. saved my money til i got a real job at 15. working at the local ice rink during school, and in between football, and bball season. i bought hundreds of pairs of Air-Jordan Sneakers, (no fake stuff) from all over. Retro's, OG's, LS style) you name it i've owned it. Well, i sold all my shoes over 250+ for double what i paid. That money landed me a great down payment on my 06 Jeep Commander that was heavily modded on 24in wheels. Now, i had an 02 Grand Cherokee that my father bought for me, for maintaining above a 3.5 GPA throughout HS. he made the same deal to my younger brother, who now has my 06 Commander. My dad bought that for him. Anyway, after that 02 my father said i was on my own, so i traded it in, along with 10k of shoe money. Thats right, sneaker money. So i was able to put alot down on my SRT when i bought it. I work full time at a local Jeep dealer in detail, but i also own / operate my own Automotive Detailing Business on the side. (Thats where i make the clear money) If thats something you enjoy doing, look into it. It's great money, if you dont mind the work!
my02grand 08-19-2009, 06:59 PM SOON TO BE- Give it time, i am super impatient, everything i want, i want it now. I have had so much in 22 years. People can't even dream about the things i have done, cars i have been in and such. I'm extremely fortunate to know good people, and to think i take alot for granted really agitates me. You'll get your SRT and when you do you'll actually appreciate it. You'll smile and the hair will raise on your arm everytime you start it. . . I have a friend, whose father just bought him a 07 Gallardo for his 18th birthday. Where do you go from there? He has nothing to look forward too. Gotta love the ones who were born with a silver spoon in their mouth :)
tomsws6 08-19-2009, 07:21 PM good luck....i hope and pray you keep that same mentality through life. you will accomplish so much more and actually be happy with your life and the things you accomplish! there is hope for the next generation!! lol
DevssrT 08-19-2009, 07:30 PM Well Nick, it was great meeting you/getting to know you buddy...GL with ur future and GL with school!...Hope you stay around!
1BAMFR 08-19-2009, 07:56 PM Nick, Take that cash and buy a house
Theres nothing better than modding a house...Instead of CAI, Exhaust, and Nitrous
You get a deck, Pavers, front load washer & Dryer, Pavers, shed, tile, landscaping
If I didn't have the mod bug for my house I would be running 8's by now
silverbullet 08-19-2009, 08:34 PM Aloha from Hawaii bro! good luck..
Hey there... which island are you on? Planning a trip for a week to Honolulu.... Westin Moana Surfrider.
BlackJeepSRT 08-19-2009, 08:39 PM Did you have the 10k in shoe boxes?
Matt McKenzie 08-19-2009, 11:03 PM Nick, I am really glad we had the chance to meet. Hopefully you will make it out for another meet when I get back. Stay on the boards and keep us posted on things! See you around!

Where the hot tub baller ;)
Nick you sound like you have a good head on your shoulders, you will always appreciate something you work for more than something handed to you.

Matt- it's great to hear from you. I sure do hope in the near future i can attend another meet. It's such a damn shame it had to poor all day long at the Jersey meet. (just my luck) I hope everything is going well for you. Take care Matt and be safe
Keoni- That's what everybody is telling me to do. Sit on the money, put it in a special account, and let me sit for a while. I just hope the future upon graduating is everything i expect it to be. I will definitely be lingering around this forum. I was literally attached to it day and night when i owned the Jeep. It's going to be hard to stay off.
I do appreciate everything i have ever had. All of my stuff, is immaculate and well taken care of because i for one had to earn it, and pay for it. I have friends of friends, whose given everything, they dont care to wash their vehicles, they beat on them, the mentality they have is unbelievable.
my02grand 08-20-2009, 05:35 AM Well Nick, it was great meeting you/getting to know you buddy...GL with ur future and GL with school!...Hope you stay around!
Ryan, it was a pleasure meeting you also. Driving to the meet in NJ was one of the funniest trips i have taken. It's a shame it had to rain all day. I'm sure i'll make it to another meet.

x100....take advantage of the 8k homebuyer tax credit and invest in a home. As I'm sure you know, a house is a much better investment than a car. I am only a few years older than you and was in the same situation recently. Luckily I was able to keep my jeep and still buy my first house since the jeep is a few payments from being completely paid off. You have plenty of time for cool cars in the years ahead.
veyronSRT8@TTCreations 08-20-2009, 09:13 AM dang man, that is really unfortunate. we'll miss ya, but look forward to your new SRT10 ventures. keep us posted and farewell. ;)
my02grand 08-20-2009, 10:09 AM Blown- I was not forced to sell my SRT8 anyone can make a payment of 125 a month. I stuck it on the lot for two weeks to see what would happen, and wouldnt you know it sold 7 days later.
af_maineiac 08-20-2009, 10:16 AM From reading this thread, it seems like you have a good head on your shoulders, especially at such a young age. Congrats on all you’ve accomplished so far, and best of luck with school!
my02grand 08-20-2009, 04:05 PM Thanks to all who have chimed in and posted. It makes me feel good with all the complements. Most of you guys seem like class acts, and that is where i want to be.
